An accurate portrayal of conservatoire training.

    An absolutely fascinating failure.

I've just finished reading the book and I was still baffled at points.
Small moments hint at potential brilliance and there is some great casting but trying to fit the whole novel into a single film is ultimately insane.
There are some truly awful choices too - what were they thinking making Baron Harkonnen like...that?

I want to read absolutely everything about the making of this film.

    4K UHD looks beautiful.

Can't begin to describe how much this film blew my mind when I first saw it.
How amazing is Laurence Fishburne when we first meet Morpheus?! Iconic.

This review may contain spoilers. I can handle the truth.

There's definitely been a shift to gory kills rather than the anticipation of big scares but I still really liked it.

I wish they had cut the hospital crowd sequence and some of the returning characters from the original felt slightly barrel-scraped but that opening was superb - just the right level of fan-service to show they understand why people love Halloween.

Michael Myers has never looked cooler or scarier!

I loved this so much. Absolutely dreamy mix of comedy & horror. The make-up/effects are brilliant and the music choices made me smile like an idiot.

Had I watched on my own I think I'd have said 3½ - 4 stars.

Instead, on a rare visit home, I got to share this with my Dad over a few whiskies and really, isn't that what it's all about?

    Thank you 70mm.
