Suspiria

Suspiria ★★½

I'm probably gonna get hit hard for this one, but here it is:

While there are several isolated moments that are genuinely terrifying and there is exceptional makeup and sound design, Luca Guadagnino's Suspiria is flooded with meandering sequences that slow the film down to a halt as well as distracting editing choices that disrupt the flow of the story. The film was also clearly not given a sufficient budget to properly execute a couple of images that were meant to be visceral towards the end. It was interesting to see a unique perspective on this concept, but it falls way short of the original classic and does not offer enough satisfying additions to make for a strong movie on its own.
