    In Nũhũ yãg mũ yõg hãm, the directors reclaim the long take from the logic of spectacle, discovering in it a dramatic and political function that recalls Bazin’s reading of Italian neo-realism. More than a space for baroque elaboration, here the long take describes the land (and the scene) as well as inhabits it, reclaiming it by living on it, walking through it, and infusing it with meaning, history, and memories.

    For the sake of the song

    The title of Araby (Arábia) – an enigmatic choice for a film set in Minas Gerais, Brazil – appears twice during its 96 minutes. The first time is as a conventional title card, except that it is introduced over 20 minutes into the film, separated from the opening credits.
