A real adult romantic drama that doesn’t quite land all its punches but it throws a lot of them if that makes sense. Tony played by Gary Cooper is a struggling writer living it up with his wife Dora in New York but has to come home to Connecticut to live in his family home until he can make more money. There he falls for polish immigrant Manya who he starts to write a novel about, Tony’s wife returns to New York, and his relationship with Manya blossoms but she’s been arranged to marry Frederic another Polish immigrant by her father and that puts a serious clock on their possible relationship. It’s all very melodramatic but when things are on the lighter side I really enjoyed this film I just wish it would’ve stayed away from taking such a serious turn and then maybe it could’ve been special. Still I thought it was pretty good
