The Florida Project is a beautiful film. It’s about the contrast of childlike whimsicality and the struggle of adulthood. The directing and colors are beautiful. The acting and great.
Most of all this film is real. The entire movie focuses on the lower class with a billion dollar Disney corporation looming in the background. Growing up in Florida I’ve seen similar things happen in Miami and Fort Lauderdale. A few months ago they opened a giant Hard Rock Hotel and Casino that’s in the shape of a guitar and has a light show so bright it can be seen from miles away. It cost 1.5 billion USD to build. Right across the street there’s a shopping plaza with dozens of homeless people
