Alex Lucey’s review published on Letterboxd:
Last year I chose to see this movie over The Lion King 2019. I'm confident that I made the right choice. This is one of my favorite movies from last year and I enjoyed it just as much with this re-watch. This is an Irish supernatural comedy (the dialogue is in English however) released here in Ireland in September 2019 and March 2020 in America.
What makes this film work is without a doubt the cast. I will admit that not all of the dialogue is amazing and the humour is very Irish so I don't know if Americans will find it as funny as I did but the delivery and the performance of the cast is spot on. Maeve Higgins makes for a great lead despite the fact that this is her first starring role. The rest of the supporting cast are also very likable but the MVP is Will Forte. I cannot describe in words the weirdness of this character who is a satanist rock-star. You just have to experience it for yourself.
When I said earlier that this was a supernatural comedy, don't expect to be scared at any point here. This is definitely more comedy than horror and the ''horror'' aspects here are mostly played for laughs with jokes made about normally horrific topics such as exorcism and possession.
I would definitely recommend this movie if you can find it. Shut your brain off for 90 minutes and let the weirdness take over you.
