I love this movie in spite of it's flaws. The Last Jedi is the perfect Star Wars movie.
With that being said, the themes in The Last Jedi that are clearly identifiable as Rian Johnson's ideas are... the most compelling Star Wars has ever been. A complete realignment of the moral compass of the Star Wars universe. You can see pretty clearly that RJ wants to take the series in a direction that sheds the constraints of Jedi and Sith but Disney wont let him fully commit. What groundwork he is allowed to lay is beautiful and heartbreaking. Generational failure and fundamentally broken institutions are so prescient in our collective psyche and the way Johnson is able to lay bare the trauma that these institutions have inflicted upon the universe is cathartic and heartbreaking. This is simply the best that Star Wars has ever been. It's faults are wholly forgivable because The Last Jedi tells a tale that strikes at the heart of the chronic fears and pains of modern society. VERY COOL
