Review In A Nutshell:
There are just some films that require multiple watches to get a full grasp on the director's intentions. 2046 on its surface is not complicated but viewing the film from this restricted perspective, prevents one from seeing the beauty that lurks underneath it. The film's characters and their emotions, throughout, felt honest and moving; there was something about the protagonist's romantic escapades that left me in deep intrigue. The film was also able to balance grounded romantic/dramatic elements with science fiction imagination that never at all felt out of place or forced, it connected well with the heart of the story, only present to to emphasise the intellectual and emotional impact it would have on its audiences. 2046 is a well thought and deeply moving entry by Wong Kar-Wai.
