Filipe Coutinho’s review published on Letterboxd:
9 years later and I still don’t know whether Inception is a good film or not. It is, however, a film to be reckoned with. Say what you will about Nolan’s intellectualism and it’s depth (or lack there of), but he knows how to craft pure, unadulterated excitement. The film is, for the most part, one big exposition dump, and yet it doesn’t cease to be compelling, mainly due to tight editing and the creation of truly iconic imagery. Most importantly, Inception is a fully original blockbuster (if you discount the Disney storyline ’homage’), and a prime example of why studios should continue to finance visions outside of the IP world.
Watched in 35MM at The New Beverly. It was 2pm on a Monday it was packed. The right films always find audiences.
