Blood and Diamonds

Blood and Diamonds ★★★★½

Claudio Cassinelli as an ex-con that gets in the middle of a big diamond heist that might or not explain what happen the night he got caught 5 years before. More a neo-noir than a poliziotteschi with a wonderful realized world and plenty of meaty acting on the side (also some weird echoes of Lung Kong’s The Story of a Discharged Prisoner). One of Fernando Di Leo’s finest films, he is always at his best when material allows for his strengths as a dramatist to shine and this one is not only perfect plotted, but allow all the weight of every choice and violent action to matter. Cassinelli lead performance is probably the best in one of his films as well.
