It’s been way too long since we’ve gotten to see Angela Bettis covered in someone else’s blood. The rare actor capable of endowing homicide with the casualness (and passion) of a hobby, Bettis’ endearingly cracked turn in the titular role of 2002’s “May” — Lucky McKee’s modern fable about an introverted loner who quite literally makes a friend from the spare parts she collects from other people — minted her as an indie horror icon. I really like Brea Grant's style. Her characters blend this awesome medium between sinister but not unlikable, goofy but not eyerollingly so, dimwitted but not ridiculously stupid, and she fits it all in a believable universe.
Something about this movie rubbed me wrong at first, but once I got settled in and started vibing with its style, I was hooked.
Also I had no idea that was the woman from May til I looked it up afterwards.

Begins with signs of a promising if turbulent story and angle, regretfully though never find it’s way out of first gear, ending in an uneven and rushed whimper for a story that on paper should contain a lot more bark. Granted, Angela Bettis’s permanent scowling demeanour and piercing eyes on their own sharpen the mood of each scene she’s in, but her character sits precariously on the surface of rage and bitterness, leaving a lot to be desired of what could be a genuinely interesting, complex person in a film full of skin-deep, nasty and abhorrent characters.

Once Upon A Time…. An Spooktober List
Talking about a film that by the end had me on such an extremely mixed place. On one hand, the dark humor and whole setting that feels like a lengthy, much f**ked up version of an Untold Stories of the E.R. episode. The overly stereotypical characters were often bonkers fun in its thrashyness. However, there's something in the technical work that slays the movie for me. I'm talking about the insufferable amount of random slow-mo that would be ever drive Zack Snyder insane, and the cheap look of the entire picture. Also the visual style with colors and its cinematography had its moments but at time I felt messy.

A decent idea for a black comedy, and for the most part it’s executed quite well with a quirky script and performances that bring it to life in a great way. There is something missing from it though, I don’t know what it is exactly but there’s a missing link somewhere that stops it from becoming an excellent black comedy. I did enjoy it and would definitely recommend it if you’re after something unique and original that’s easy to watch. Nice to see Angela Bettis on screen again, it’s been a minute since I have seen her, she’s always a gem.

Compared with There's No Such Thing as Vampires, a fucking masterpiece. On its own terms, Brea Grant's sophomore feature is a pretty decent effort. Following so closely on the heels of the aforementioned atrocity, the difference was marked; here you've got people who can actually act and a living, breathing plot. Not all of the comedy lands but its dark humour is consistently grin-inducing if not laugh out loud funny - the Discman shuffle was inspired. Angela Bettis, who many will know from her role in May, delivers another great performance as cynical, world weary nurse Mandy, drawn into an increasingly gonzo night of organ harvesting, bloody murder and crazy blondes. She's not a sympathetic character, but definitely an intriguing…

12 Hour Shift starts off as a promising crime comedy with plenty of bloody fun flowing but succumbs to being too silly of a result. The twisted humor could've really underscored the story rather than becoming a series of events of nonsense, cleanse, and repeat. Angela Bettis as exhausted nurse just trying to hustle and get through her shift holds it down as the rest crumbles into a collision of ridiculousness. More empty lampoon than lovable mischief.

Crazed coked up overnight nurses, confused patients, an oblivious security guard that sings n dances, doofy cops, black market organ trading criminals, dark humor, kidneys, guts, dead bodies, and ample blood splatter...
The quirky cast of characters made this watchable for me. Really enjoyed seeing Angela Bettis ham it up. Also liked Chloe Farnsworth's character Regina, she was just so nutty! I'm confused by David Arquette's character arc though...they could have taken him out the movie completely and it wouldn't have changed a single thing imho.
12 Hour Shift is a darkly comedic hospital hallway massacre. Not as entertaining as I'd hoped but still makes for a decent cheesefest.

Mediocre but funny at times, everyone is inept at what they do, and it’s a contest to see who can succeed the least. The concept of trying to find lost organs wears thin after awhile.
Angela Bettis captures the essence of a nurse who’s seen too much and doesn’t give a shit anymore, I’ve first hand known some and she portrays this well.
Everything else going on around her has the energy of a screwball stage play, but most of the acting is amateur level at best. You can feel the low budget because the entire film appears to take place in three hallways and a tiny morgue setting, but I don’t want to necessarily hold that against it.
Horror comedy but it’d be hard to recommend it in either category, maybe more of an emphasis on one of those specifically would’ve worked better

This film is stupid in my opinion. The entire thing centers around an organ harvesting ring set out of an Arkansas hospital (in 1999 for reasons I’m still trying to make sense of although we get lots of Y2K anxiety in the background) and specifically a transplant that’s scheduled to happen over the film’s 12 hour timeline. When a kidney procured for the operation is lost (by the sort of annoyingly self-absorbed character that only exists in bad comedies as real life criminal organizations tend to deal with this sort of perpetual fuck up more definitively) we have various people scrambling to find a replacement, wantonly slashing innocent victims apart so they can dig around in their insides and extract…
