I’m in this photo and I don’t like it
A lot of this movie felt like a nightmare. A pretty funny and quirky nightmare, but a nightmare all the same. Watching this man run so hard but struggle to get anywhere is terribly sad. It’s also like one of those nightmares where you watch horrible things happen to someone and that person turns out to be you, cuz this man’s pursuit of the American Dream is nothing if not relatable.
I began production on my new short film yesterday and watching this filled me with every emotion, including frustration, nostalgia, and both hopelessness AND hopefulness. Without spoiling anything, I will say that I’m really happy I stuck around for the ending.
Essential viewing for filmmakers or dreamers alike.
