“Aww, it’s a baby one!”
When an 8 minute short film has more magic, suspense, heart and awe than all but 4 feature length movies I’ve seen this year.
This was absolutely wonderful. Definitely a tonal departure from the darker and more tragic Crichton-inspired Fallen Kingdom with a more Spielberg-esque charm in its optimism, wide-eyed wonder and spirit of hope. Also has some of the most endearing family dynamics and adorable child characters I’ve ever seen in any film.
Bring on Jurassic World 3!

The last Jurassic movie provided an interesting first act but nothing beyond that; other than the tease before the credits. To see a world ruled by dinosaurs is something that would draw in a huge crowd; even those who haven’t loved this new age of Jurassic films. I’m not one to rave about where this franchise is but after seeing what I wanted to see in this short; I am on board for where it is going. Trevorrow isn’t the best writer and it’s clear to me that it’s going to be difficult to get around that in the new film; but in terms of his directing, his style and the potential tone, I’m…
The franchise in a nutshell: dinos attack, nuclear family is restored, dinos retreat. Too brief to call it good or bad, though given the fact that I thought this was a first viewing and YouTube informed me otherwise, I do have reason to call it forgettable.
A good one. Scary and intense. It made me even more excited to watch Jurassic World 3.
Those clips during the end credit were also very good.

More like Battle at Big Stupid Movie.
An interesting idea, to release short films to gain hype and traction for hopefully the last film, but boy was this a big old stinker. The dinosaur effects were pretty good, but the lighting on everything was atrocious and I COULDN'T FUCKING SEE.
When an 8-minute short film is better than your franchise’s last full-length feature 💀

Colin Trevorrow (Jurassic World) returns for this Jurassic World related short that premiered on FX in late 2019. I’ve heard some describe it as being much better than either of the two most recent feature length films and I somewhat understand that sentiment with Fallen Kingdom (2018) but less so for Jurassic World (2015). That film’s main issue for me was thinly developed characters and this short is about as weak in that regard as the feature length film (although it obviously has less time to develop them). As is, Battle at Big Rock is a simple thriller with okay characters and a somewhat tense sequence. The dinosaur effects look great and the direction is somehow more tense than…
I know this sounds very wrong... But I would be OK if someone spank the living hell of that kid.
Aside from it, this short works as a great promotional material and reintroduction into the Jurassic World as the "world" finally comes into fruition. It definitely live up the hype for me.
Some very weak moments with the human characters and dialogue.
But definitely you should watch this if you are either a fan or not of the new trilogy.
André Holland fighting a T-Rex was exactly what was missing from Moonlight. I'm glad they fixed that now.
