I see you Carpenter soundtrack-lite...I see you Suspira dance school decor...and all the other call backs that inhabit this low grade slasher. The nudity and the pretty lead don't hurt. Watch this for a bloody jaunt.
Directed by a Brett. Starring another Brett. And now, reviewed by a Brett! It’s a Brettfecta mothafuckas!!!!!!
Decent giallo music. Good giallo locations. Eh acting. Some really solid gore effects (that Achilles). Some terrible gore effects (those eyeballs). Cool giallo lighting. A completely unnecessary haunted house storyline that just pads the movie. Could’ve just told the main story without that, but we might have lost one of our Brett’s, (maybe not, don’t know who Brett was playing but I assume he did a wonderful job) so I understand Brett’s reticence to this.
Final Rating
2.5 Brett out of 5 Brett.
The story is pretty bland and starts to become slightly annoying halfway the movie, but the imagery and soundtrack.... oh my.... excellent!
Also, the dude with the visions' story line is the most useless narrative I've seen in a while.
I don't know what happened story wise. But the imagey and soundtrack are hella cool
This movie is surprisingly good. Kind of a Susperia type vibe with enough differences to not be a total ripoff. The acting was pretty good as was the cinematography. I found myself enjoying the soundtrack because of how it complemented to film and didn’t try and overshadow it. This is a good Fryday or Saturday night chilling at home movie.
jesus, if you're going to make a Suspiria mockbuster, at least have the ass to make a Suspiria mockbuster
I'm honestly trying to decide if this the bloody ballet i watched or not. Like I looked at the trailer and I'm not sure haha.
It was ok. I'll probably rewatch again sometime but it was nothing special.
The one man filmmaking demolition team of director/writer/editor/co-cinematographer/co-producer Brent Mullen(BOMBSHELL BLOODBATH,KILLER BABES AND THE FRIGHTENING FILM FIASCO) brings us all this glossy and polished looking but vastly empty headed giallo-style slasher/horror feature that has an aspiring young ballerina(Kendra Carelli[GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY:VOLUME 2,THE DARK WITHIN,A BRIDE'REVENGE]) who is struggling with her mentally unbalanced state and her inner psychological demons as she lands a job as the lead at an upcoming production of THE NUTCRACKER,only for her mental state to further slip away as a long trail of blood covered corpses lays behind her path.
Despite semi-sharing a similar title as Ruggero Deodato's (most recent film)BALLET OF BLOOD(that is just as equally downright awful),BLOODY BALLET may be elegantly helmed by Mullen…
I totally get what the filmmakers were trying to do but it was executed pretty badly. I wanna say the film was hindered by its low budget but after thinking about it, it’s hindered by poor story telling.
A lot of the murders happen with little to no suspense, ie: an underdeveloped girl is home alone, she’s quickly murdered, next! There’s a lot thrown into the movie; slasher, giallo, supernatural, psychological but none of these themes are fully explored. The film feels like it doesn’t know what it wants to be...everything is slapped together. The killer becomes predictable halfway through - I’m not sure if they were even trying to hide the identity at this point? There’s also a weird…
A sort-of-interesting slasher/ghost story that I could never really understand or follow coherently, "Bloody Ballet" needed to cook a little longer before release.

The movie suffers from a BTS fallout where part was done by Matt Cloude and the other was done by Brett Mullen. The cohesiveness of the story suffers. Special effects are good. And, the writer of the score was worth every penny.
Las integrantes de una escuela de ballet van cayendo poco a poco. Una bailarina atormentada con pesadillas y un señor buscando algo en un edificio abandonado. Un poco batiburrillo pero acaba siendo una peli entretenida.
A bit of a ramble on Bloody Ballet, a modern giallo set in Richmond, Virginia.
There's some effective nastiness including eye removals, a goopy doppelganger in the tub, a really neat recreation of Le spectre rouge, and an awesome bit of nightmarish metaphorical horror wherein one person claws their way out of another's body from the inside.
The lead is talented but the guy playing the reporter can't carry his sections of the film, the whole thing even looks flatter and less professional when he's around. Some will scoff at the aesthetics, the 80s fetishism. Lots of synth rock and pointless neon, intense neon in peoples bedrooms and so on, where it doesn't make any sense. A lot of the…
Mmmm, okay, look. I'm predisposed to look fondly on other people who clearly enjoy giallo as much as I do, but this was not-so-great. Hammy acting, lame storyline, spooky apparitions that look more like models in cool burlesque costumes than anything else. No thank you.
But if you got the hook-up for the Etsy that made that one demon-fairy-lady's horn headdress, DM me.
