Badi Haweliyon Mein Bade Raaz Hote Hain...
Chup Rehna...
A good kinda romantic horror mystery. Tripti did outstanding, her beautiful smile makes scenes look more beautiful. Avinash, Parambrata, Paoli Dam & Rahul Bose also done well.
Anvita did very well in her directorial debut. It feels like how simple a story can be presented in a very beautiful et dak way, throughout provoking.
1920 movie kinda feel.
Technically brilliant, but the movie is just fine.
It just has a touch of horror, but it is an emotional drama.
A decent watch.

Bulbbul is a hybrid. Another film in what I would call Soap Opera Horror... films that are for the most part melodramas or intense dramas, that incorporate limited horror elements. In this film you explore the fraught life of a woman living with elites in an arranged marriage in an isolated area where men are being murdered. While the violence is highly stylized this has misery porn elements to it that might turn off viewers that are looking for a good time. Many will roll their eyes, wondering how many average rap revenge films the world needs before we all get it.
Bulbbul is a pretty film, with fun use of…
"You are all the same."
"Now we are all the same."
Expected a different period horror from the trailer, but the film despite moving forward on both the legs of period drama and horror couldn't stand upright on either of them perfectly and twisted itself into a highly predictable fare for me where only the visual flair and Tripti Dimri's silent badassery stand out. The intention to move forward in the mainstream medium by bringing to fore the issues of child marriages or domestic abuses that are pushing us backwards in terms of equality ever since is appreciated and brings along several themes like gender equality and supernatural from Anushka Sharma's previous productions.
As a period fairytale, this was bloody…
With great acting, a good story and a gorgeous visual style, this intriguing tale of murder and vengeful supernatural forces is easy to like.
Although the middle section could have used a little more of this vengefull energy and a bit less drama, the characters and the relationships are solid enough to make it interesting for most of the time. Sometimes the story drags a bit, but the visual flair at least makes it a delight to look at, and towards the final act the horror has been brought back to life with a few spine-tingling moments and a satisfying final twist that was worth the wait.
Tripti Dimri's smile alone makes it worth the watch, but it's her strong presence as an actress that truly elevates this film to a higher level. She provides a strong emotional core to this pretty and ultimately satisfying feminist tale.
Trigger Warning: Sexual Assault, Domestic Abuse
First off my expectations for this movie were astronomically high. Things I'm interested in include early 20th century Bengal, folktales, Laila-Majnu (2018), the feminist films produced by Clean Slate Films (I haven't seen Phillauri but I love Pari and NH10) and this movie seemed to include all of this so naturally my expectations ballooned up and exited the stratosphere.
If you go into this movie thinking that it is a horror film then you will be disappointed. This is not a horror film but an origin story. In a lot of ways this movie reminds me of Pari though simpler and not as ambitious which is not necessarily a deterrent. The object of horror…
I feel like this movie deserves more praise because honestly it was brilliant. Yeah it was predictable.... but wasn’t that the point?? I mean I don’t think we can really say much about that when most, nearly all, of Indian cinema is predictable, dogmatic and frankly kinda misogynistic. So watching bulbbul was just like damnnnn because though some parts were a bit rushed it still got to the point, dealt with that unjustified use of coercion and was pretty well done. I love Indian film but I guess I liked this movie so much because it’s so different to the conventional Bollywood movies. Oh and the cinematography could actually have not been done better, so red it’s fantastic.
nothing unique to offer, kinda predictable. though the cinematography was good. the costume designer, makeup artist did a great job.
you can watch it, it's totally not a horror movie but it is a visual representation of horrific realities that turned such story in that British era.
things to notice: the story is based on 1881 but the bathtubs invented in 1890's! screen play is weak.
so, I can say for some typical bolly audience it's a good movie.
7/10
I enjoyed the love story a lot more than the supernatural stuff (which is what I watched it for)
I was really enjoying it up until the last act which really wasn't that much of a shocker. They took it too far though. The film seemed a lot more grounded in reality and then that ending happened. I wasn't keen on it.
Tripti Dimri is absolutely stunning 😍🔥 and Rahul Bose is hella creepy!
The credit sequence at the beginning of the film is gorgeous as is the cinematography throughout. Really beautiful looking film.
Music was a tad jarring at times.
I definitely enjoyed this more than I expected to. Will definitely be watching more Bollywood films. No singing and dancing sequences in this one though sadly ha ha.
The dreaded atmosphere and vibe of a gothic romance, reminiscent of Guillermo Del Toro's 'Crimson Peak', is the highlight of Anvita Dutt's highly ambitious 'Bulbbul'. It's a tale of female angst and toxic males set in 19th century Bengal and it's undoubtedly relevant in this age. Of course, there are some flaws in the narrative structure but it barely mattered for me, considering the effective performances, Amit Trivedi's haunting music, Siddharth Diwan's magnificent frames and the brilliant direction of Anvita Dutt. The film is far more nuanced than being tied down to genre conventions, so don't expect much "horror".
I love seeing women kill abusive men. However, the abuse scenes were too long and gruesome, I had to forward through them. Predictable and uncomfortable, Bulbbul gave bollywood a little nudge in the right direction but other than that it greatly missed the mark.
“ठाकुर है, चुप रहना”
This movie deserves so much more praise. I don't care how predictable it may have been, but hot deng, it was brilliant.
super disappointed in how the disabled character was portrayed because there was absolutely no need for it???? like other than that it's a perfectly good movie, melodramatic and emotive and beautiful, but I just can't excuse this kind of blatant ableism especially for a film made in 2020 come ON
This film is almost it! But it really fumbles some pretty major subject matter in a way that is very uncomfortable
Na momente zgodno dizajniran, na momente suviše naivno naslikan, povremeno zatrpan, uglavnom nespretno zapleten, svejedno nepregledan i tupadžijski raspleten indijski gothic horor koji potcenjuje globalnu publiku.
فيلم وقصه خياليه

انتاجات انوشكا شارما واضح بتكون رائعه 👍🏼
Yeah, bulbul can get it... In a safe and consensual way
I have logistical questions about how the fantasy powers work but it also could be no powers
In love with the lighting and cinematography combined in this. Would like to watch this in a theatre
Noooooo this didn't work for me and I blame the director. The story was good enough but the execution wasn't.
Yoooo this movie was kinda insane and def a new favorite!! Fuckin terrifying halfway through I was so nervous
