It’s honestly surprising this wasn’t dropped on Netflix on a lazy late winter Friday. It reeks of the sort of effortless 90s-style revival romantic comedy they’ve mastered over the last two years. Here we have two charismatic, attractive leads in Alexandra Daddario and Tyler Hoechlin, a perfect dumb romantic comedy meet cute (girl spills her life story to her airplane seat mate during a plane crash scare only to later learn he’s her new boss), and a reasonably breezy tone. Will you reevaluate your views on the human condition after watching this movie? In a word, no. To be clear this isn’t a “good” movie. The performances are extremely broad, the screenplay is cliched, the gags are obvious. That said, if you have a soft spot for dumpy, cheery romantic comedies will you feel amused? Absolutely.
A perfectly cromulent wine movie.
