Josh Forbes' "Contracted: Phase 2" is a horror sequel that is at its best when it is in full-bore, slow-burn, skin-crawl mode. The film, about a sexually transmitted malady whose infection manifests in terrifically horrific ways, is the kind of creepy, icky, piece of gross-out that genre fans will eat up. However, the effective elements of the film are often cancelled out by the work's questionable plotting and low-quality flourishes.

Following directly on from the last movie, this one flips genders and we get to see how a guy deals with deterioration and disease spreading.
Whereas the last flick showed us Samantha's gradual decay with spurts of icky gory stuff, this one just goes for it and ramps everything up by 10. It only works in conjunction with the last one, as the build up from that left me wanting more.
So we get more victims as Mr Infection unknowingly spreads his love around to everyone close to him. And since he's missing a vagina, we get maggots coming out of every other part of his body instead! Delicious.

Resist the urge, there will be better ways to waste time and bandwidth than watching un ininspired sequel to an uninspired sequel to a not so good original anyway.
"He is the disease..."
Extremely disappointing. This sequel is so dramatically different from the first film in every possible way. The acting is sub-par, the makeup is decent in some scenes and tragically fake-looking in others, and nothing really makes any sense. Things just... happen.
It's a shame, I remember really enjoying the first film and this sequel does absolutely nothing to complement it. But, hey, at least the maggots are back. Those sexy sexy maggots.
Contracted was, for better or for worse, a woman's story about rape, trauma, and the ways society antagonizes the female body. Contracted: Phase II opens with the unlikable bro from the first movie having a very bro-ey conversation with a very bro-ey doctor, and then it gets bro-ier from there, and I don't know who in the hell thought this was a good idea. Women are objectified, belittled and demonized in a multitude of ways throughout this movie--it's the kind of thing its predecessor, for all its faults, was determined not to be. It gets a little more interesting toward the end, and some overtures are made toward redeeming the brotagonist (did I just make that up? that's good shit right there), but that's no excuse for plopping me down inside this guy's head for 70 minutes.

It's like a really bad B-movie that wasn't trying to be a B-movie. Tons of gore but just some awfully wooden acting and some of the actions of the characters made zero sense to me.

The suspension of uncertainty from the first one that is.
This one starts right where the first left us. It tells us the story about the "nice" guy who cared so deeply for our lead from the first and tasted the maggots of her and got his kink out of it. Payback is a bitch.
He goes out, to find the one who is doing this and a plot about some guy who wants to bring the end to the world is woven into the hard creepy body horror, destroying the "realism" of the sickness and turning it into a terrorist plot. also our lead here is much weaker, not really capable of handling the weight of the story.

This starts straight after the first which is nice to find out what happened to Sam,she was basically patient-zero in a zombie apocalypse,which i thought was great to see as you dont normally see the start of these apocalypses you usually just see the carnage they have caused.
In this one we follow the last person who sam infected going tru the transformation as his body collapses but this time its from a male perspective,so it hit abit harder this time,so i feel all pain yous females went through watching the first one,,UGHH and OUCHH is all im saying lol
This one ups the gore a little theres a couple of plot holes that maybe can be explained by the virus evolving so i was okay with that and the final scene as in the first leaves it open for a bigger film the nxt time,so another good entry into the STD/zombie infected contracted world 👍

Takes the more interesting ideas of the first Contracted into regressive and dumber territories, but at least the horrendous gore and visceral sense of abjection is created admirably - this is properly disgusting.
Beginning immediately after the gruesome finale of the first film, the focus shifts from the recently zombified Samantha and onto her equally dull friend, Riley. The premise and execution is lifted straight from the first film - the difference being that the surface level sexual politics are now focused on a male perspective of STD/sexuality. Rather than a nuanced exploration of these themes, or even pushing the ideas of the first film into new territories, the film simply doesn't have the ability to do anything more than base level shock.

This film is a tiny bit better than the first, but that isn't saying much. Its really not a great film, at all, but the worst thing about it is that it seems to want to set up a third film.

On par with the first one, but a lot more going on. Love a sequel that picks up right where the previous left off. Nothing really special here, but still entertaining. Not as gross as the first one (no vagina maggots). Characters still make unbelievably stupid decisions when facing a VIRAL outbreak. I saw not one person wearing a mask, social distancing, or more importantly- tweeting #safeathome. No, they even shared cups of tea with each other. The ending was pretty bad. It wasn’t a waste of time watching this, however. Still pretty decent effects on a minimal budget, and some humor that I appreciated.
This and its predecessor really took the infection genre and made it something completely different than we've seen before.
The first film has a kind of icky charm that carried it to its violent conclusion. Phase II has some ick factor, but it's a vastly inferior film.
Ropey performances, terrible writing, and a complete lack of logic in how the virus works. When things get goopy, the film gets interesting, but it's not enough to excuse just how bad the rest is.
Not great, but a cameo from my two dads Aaron Moorhead and Justin Benson is always welcome.
