When their employers start to take away their privileges and begin treating them like common animals, these maids will terminate their employment by reaching for the kitchen knives.
Cuidado Madame (Watch Out Madame) is a Brazilian low-budget arthouse movie that is more commentary on class (struggles) than an actual slasher. Events here often play out in an absurdist way, although the movie is not entirely without disturbing moments:
One of the maids (played by Maria Gladys) is a very jovial person and in one scene, she manically looks into the camera, reveals a big knife and makes a stabbing motion with it.
I thought that was very creepy!
Definitely an interesting little movie to check out!

Não to nem ai se existe de fato algum sentido temático formal nisso aqui. O importante é que tem muita energia e é cru. Como em uma das poucas falas que consegui entender: " O negócio é ação, atividade".
There are, in the world, only maids and mistresses. The mistresses must be vapid and tyrannical, the maids must murder them to restore class balance and personal fulfillment. The premise is so simple that it needs no elaboration -- action may distilled to the pure gesture of the proletariat hand stabbing into the aristocratic heart, repeatedly. No que tange a obra do Bressane, num geral gosto mais de seus filmes tardios, lê-se pós-2000, do que dos mais antigos. Isso não quer dizer que não tenha muita coisa boa no seu trabalho anterior ao século XXI, e "Cuidado, Madame" certamente figura entre meus favoritos desse período - gosto sobretudo de sua primeira metade, pra mim a parcela mais forte do filme.
Tem uma exploração geográfica do bairro de Copacabana que me chama muito a atenção, e me lembrou muito de uma entrevista do Rogério Sganzerla (não me lembro qual, e não tenho o livro em mãos para conferi-la) na qual ele critica o "Copacabana Me Engana" de Antonio Carlos da Fontoura dizendo que Copacabana é um bairro…

O Brasil é um país abençoado...
A força do Cinema Marginal tá justamente em não ficar se explicando. Explicar pra quê, se empregada e patroa sabem muito bem do que se trata? O Absurdo é a libertação das correntes desse moralismo mesquinho que as ruas de Copacabana, e o imponente Palace, tentam esconder. A moral cristã não pesa sobre essas personagens, que desfilam, sambam e riem, saboreando a leveza que o contra-ataque do oprimido traz.
Pra mim, a primeira metade funciona mais do que a segunda. Ainda assim, necessário!
