After watching Curfew, it's easy to see why this won the Academy Award for Best Live-Action Short Film, as Shawn Christensen's dramatic effort has terrific technical execution, clever writing, and great performances throughout. I also recommend Before I Disappear, the feature-length indie film this spawned.

I'll never understand. Martin Scorsese spends decades creating films that define entire generations of filmmakers before finally winning an Academy Award, and Shawn Christensen, the writer of Taylor Lautner's dramatic breakthrough (lol) Abduction, wins with this pathetic, cloying excuse for a short film. Yes, there are an infinite number of uses for the Martin Scorsese comparison, but it bears repeating whenever possible.

Oscar 2013 live action short watch
I am totally flabbergasted that this film is nominated for an Oscar. From beginning to end it smacked of being a mediocre student film. The lead was pathetic, the little girl was precocious, and the sister was just inexplicably mean.

It is really worth the time to watch this Oscar Winning short film by Shawn Christensen. I would recommend it to anyone.

Obviously, I'm late on watching but better late than never.
I'm really enjoying watching more short films. I used to be immature and think you couldn't get much depth out of them. I'm starting to realize short films are having a big impact on me.Shawn Christensen is one hell of an actor, writer, and director.

Totally worthy of its Oscar win for its heartfelt (and appropriately dark) story, filmic visual aesthetic, purposeful camera direction, and stellar performances.
If given the choice, I wouldn’t change a thing about Curfew. It’s perfect.
