A father brings up his baby girl as a single dad after the unexpected death of his wife who died a day after their daughter's birth.
This is a genuinely sweet attempt at changing the perception of Kevin Hart as an actor. While he doesn’t nail every single emotional beat in the first act, he slowly settles into his role and delivers a good performance. This is not a Comedy, so do not expect a familiar comedic performance from Hart. It features comedic beats that do not work, but the Drama being at the forefront for most of the film is the right decision. After a few montages and time jumps,…
two things I want to tell you about this,
1. I love Kevin Hart (even more when he comes with The Rock).
2. This movie is Funny, Emotional, Inspiring and God I loved it so much.
I watched 3 movies on the day but this movie made my day. It felt very close to my HART. Didn't expect this movie would be that good, Thank you Paul Weitz for this.
🎬 Netflix.
While his and his brother's names are synonymous with raunchy comedies thanks to their work on American Pie, Paul Weitz is experienced in domestic comedy and the exploration of a father who is forced to take care of a child against his will due to several reasons.
As a story about the bond between father and son, this movie doesn't attain the same nuance or reach the same heights as About a Boy, but it is nevertheless a beautiful and touching work about fatherhood. Despite not shedding tears like the person next to me (aka my mother), I was undoubtedly moved by it.
It is Kevin Hart who carries the bulk of the film. Having just recently proven his talent…
This movie felt like it was 3 hours.
So repetitive.
Jokes did not land.
Lil Rel Howery outshined Kevin Hart.
Go watch The Upside if you want a solid dramatic performance from Hart.
Did I mention this was long?
A movie that's tough from the start,
With Kevin in a different part.
Going for change,
Showing his range,
Cause he wants to be Kevin Heart.
white directors really just have too much time on they hands, they really think the answer to telling Black stories is to replace the characters in a white man's autobiography with Black people?? this is a hollow shell of a film—an empty vessel carrying valueless reflections on Black female mortality and nonsensical gender politics (she dont wanna wear a skirt cause she dont have a mom💀), and kevin hart's faux sincerity tryna pander to the lgbt for his past homophobia is so unbelievably awful. lil rel is the absolute worst Black actor working today and the state of alfre woodard's career is an irredeemable injustice. i'm so embarrassed🤦🏾♂️
Kevin Hart has a starring role originally meant for Channing Tatum in a mediocre movie produced by Barack Obama and directed by the guy who did Little Fockers
what a mad lib of a movie
A straightforward dramatic comedy which follows a recently widowed father who struggles to raise his daughter after the unexpected death of his wife. The show is all about Kevin Hart, who surprisingly convinces in a much restrained emotional role. Am a big fan of his comic roles, but it was a refreshing change to see him play such a role. The story is simple, familiar and predictable and the narration let’s it down a bit during the second hour. On the whole, it’s a watchable simple feel good drama.
It's good to see Kevin Hart doing something slightly different then his usual funny comedy style. This flick shows his multiple acting skills which is nice and refreshing. Still a funny movie but more on the drama side. Definitely worth watching.
