uhhh y'all should go watch this instead of to the bone. the concept is kind of shaky but troian gives a great performance and the film as a whole isn't that bad. also, instead of an ugly british asshole named luke (fuck you, to the bone), you have a hot british-playing-american asshole named matt !! so there's also that
my real rating is like 3.5-4 but i want to drive the average up! this movie is a really great depiction of what having an eating disorder is really like, and does so by “externalizing” the internal symptoms of an ED. troian kills it as the lead, and even though her and tom felton look nothing alike, their chemistry is really great
currently doing a deep psychoanalytical study on why the filmmakers and the in-world doctors/therapists thought it would be a good idea to show The Craft at the hospital.
After the mess that was To the Bone, I hoped that Feed would somewhat be a bit better. The first twenty minutes or so were plain out awful and it didn’t really look that promising. I suppose that having actors who are in their early thirties playing high school seniors perhaps wasn't very convincing either. However, it does pick up soon after that and the entire thing isn’t that bad. There’s no romanticization of having an eating disorder and the overall portrayal of mental illness and everything that comes along with it, is done very well.
The plot didn’t stood out that much and everything was pretty average. There were also some technical issues that probably didn’t help much either…
Okay I might be biased for this one cause I love Troian Bellisario and Tom Felton but I really really loved this movie. I thought it was such a clever way to personify the voice of the eating disorder, having someone you really love and someone you trust to take care of you control you. Nowadays most of the stories you hear about people with eating disorders are people who think they're not skinny enough because of society's mainstream expectations. While yes, that is completely true for some people, a lot of people have eating disorders because intake of food is the one thing they can control when they feel like everything else isn't. And this was inspired by Troian's…
it is heavily implied in this that the twins boned.
i am aware that is not the takeaway of this but i CANNOT get past it.
*also this movie trying to convince me that tom felton is only 18 HAH
Hmm. This was well-acted, and I can appreciate a movie that seeks to draw attention to eating disorders and mental health advocacy. Not to mention the lead actress also wrote it. But something about this was just off. It made me feel uncomfortable. And if that's what it set out to do, then it succeeded. I just don't want to experience it again. And what is with that plot description? Barely describes the movie at all.
At first, I was pretty skeptical of the film. But as it progressed and it developed I was even bummed the film wasn't longer. Definitely deserved to have a longer lenght. After an accident kills one brother, leaving his twin sister as the sole survivor, she slowly becomes more and more heartbroken and starting to see her late brother who. It's a film about guilt and about not being able to overcome it, and even though they did in any way look like they were 18, the film did nonetheless work well enough for me to enjoy it.
As someone who has also had anorexia, I feel this was executed very very well and portrayed the eating disorder voice in a way that those who have not suffered can almost imagine what it is like. Loved it
