My main man Nietzsche already wrote a review for this film:
'When you stare into the abyss the abyss stares back at you.'
Impossible to look away. Its crappiness just sucks you in and drains your soul, leaving an empty shell behind.
Avoid at all costs.
This is not a bad movie.
It's not a great movie, either. It's cliched. It's corny. It's not well acted, and the writing could use a lot of work. But that's true of about 90% of movies, including many critical darlings and hugely popular films. There's not a single MCU film that isn't cliched, corny, badly acted, and badly written, yet they regularly rate highly with film snobs and the population at large. In 2002, the Oscars rewarded A Beautiful Mind as Best Picture: an ableist depiction of white man's struggle with mental illness and being exploited by the state. It's corny, cliched, badly acted, and badly written. It stars a white man and panders to the Academy.
This isn't…
I don't get all the hate this movie gets. I really just don't understand it. It really is not that horrible. I mean it's no Oscar worthy movie but like it's NOT THAT BAD. I JUST WANT THE GLITTER HATE TO STOP.
I cry at night for this movie and all the unnecessary hate it gets. I pray for all those who hate this movie. May God bless you all in your next life.
By no means a great film but also by no means as bad as its reputation would have you believe. The vitriol and public shaming Mariah had after this is a clear case of schadenfreude and misogyny, she didn’t deserve it, firstly because it’s just cruel and mean but also because the movie, and Mariah’s performance, isn’t actually bad. Sure, the dialogue is cringe, and considering the plot and title it doesn’t ever really become an overly exciting or glittery film, but people just wanted to hate and hate they did, unfairly. So yeah, nothing outstanding but worth watching for some Mariah goodness, the songs are killer, it’s no wonder it went to number 1 almost 20 years later.

People don't talk like this.
Confession... I really wanted to like this... I was really excited to write a contrarian review about how people that don't like Glitter are just dummies, but no... this is really quite bad. I don't know how you screw this up so bad... Is it Mariah's fault?
I've seen a couple of reviews from people that don't understand the hate this movie receives and I would just encourage those people to actually watch the movie because it's horrible. The lead character has no character really... at all... so it just becomes you watching "Mariah Carey" go through a bottom tier Disney Channel Original…

That poster is one of the most soothing things on my eyes. Peripherally, Mariah has been one of the pop singers I've liked consistently throughout all of the phases of my life. A girl in 7th grade named Felicia talked about her legs a lot. They're worth talking about. I thought this movie was going to be magical. In her way she's quite magical, although probably too aware of it. She's so ubiquitous that I can't imagine my childhood without her voice in the distance. This movie was supposed to be good,…
