Feels like a 2012 Disney channel original movie. I wish it was more like the 90s if only for a greater commitment to scaring the shit out of children.

Some of the jokes fall flat here and there, and the CGI is noticeably bad, but "Goosebumps" is still an insanely fun, fast paced, and entertaining time at the movies. The cast looks like there all having a blast, the action sequences are a ton of fun to watch, and I was laughing pretty consistently throughout. Nothing all the special or memorable in the long run but it's a perfect way to speed 100 minutes.

Lots of fun! Especially when putting this on while babysitting my niece and nephew totally captivateing them in the process while giveing me a fucking break from dealing with my their shenanigans. I made them popcorn before we started the movie but left the drinks in the kitchen... after leaving the room for 12 seconds to get them their beverages, I walk back in to find popcorn all over the place and my unamused cat laying on the couch covered in popcorn and giving me the death stare. My OCD neatness mechanism is triggered and I'm sweating like Patrick Bateman holding that business card, plus my cat is definitely going to murder me later after all of this.

Oh yeah, the movie! It looks great in 3D, definitely try to see it that way if you can.

This film just gives out the 2012–Disney–Original–Film–High–School–Musical–Camp–Rock vibes! It could've been better by adding scary things, like actual scary thing but it was watchable and funny at times.

Just realised the main character from "13 Reason Why" actually acted in this film, lol.

why does dylan minnette only play Sad Boys that fall in love with girls named hannah

Coming from someone who used to be a huge Goosebumps fan as a kid, "Goosebumps" the movie did not disappoint, as it's a very fun time at the movies. Jack Black, Dylan Minnette, Odeya Rush, and Ryan Lee are all very solid in the four lead roles, with Ryan Lee and Jack Black in particular who are very charismatic and funny here. The effects and CGI are cool and it was awesome to see my favorite R.L. Stine characters on the Silver Screen, especially Slappy. The movie has tons of clever jokes and gags throughout, even though a few every now and then fall flat, but luckily most work and are funny here.

It's a movie that people who aren't familiar with Goosebumps can also enjoy, even though it wouldn't be quite as appealing for someone like me who is. If you want a to have a good time and laugh a lot than this one is for you!

Crams in as much content as humanly possible, and is so eager to please its fanbase, that it because an exhausting exercise in pandering. Thankfully, because the storytelling is so forceful, you will have hardly any time to think about it. Humor is all over the map, but a few gems emerge that get a belly laugh. It's typical kiddie fare that does its job to entertain, before evaporating from your mind completely. Jack Black is the highlight, imbuing his Stine with authority, gusto, and subtle tics. He was perfectly cast. Oh, he also voices Slappy the Dummy too, making Stine and Slappy two sides of the same personality, an interesting idea that surprisingly works. It sure as hell won't give you goosebumps though.

I had a huge phase of reading Goosebumps when I was a child. A phase that lasted around 18 years or so (maybe it wasn't a phase). So seeing this movie was fun and all but honestly, the TV episodes and the books scared me 10x more than this movie did. I know it was meant for kids and all but wasn't the tv show also meant for kids....
However, there were 3 things I really liked about this movie:

1. The fact that Dylan Minnette came out. Gotta love Clay Jenson.

2. The references to "Steve King"

3. And last but not least, the end credits where they show the cover artwork for a few of the Goosebumps books. I wished they showed more.

With this second view i realized I should put it better rating and I love love the Stephen king references with all my heart.

Boy meets girl meets literary creations come to life in this big screen adaptation of RL Stine’s perennially popular children’s books, and it’s all done with an affectionate and knowing nod to the genre that inspired it.

Dylan Minette’s Zack moves next door to a reclusive tetch and his teenage daughter, and while trying not to fall for her he unwittingly unleashes literal hell on the small town of Madison, Delaware.

Jack Black is restrained but still effervescent as Zach’s mysterious neighbour, with Odeya Rush and Ryan Lee providing able teen back-up, and the result is a lightly-perilous adventure romp with some genuinely funny, scary, and tender moments.

Goosebumps is redolent of such 1980s classics as Ghostbusters and Gremlins, and while it may not be looked upon so fondly by so many after thirty-plus years, it’s a solid entry into that genre.

I regularly watch this with the kids. It’s a lot better than one might assume. Cute, watchable flick.

The concept is surprisingly meta, but otherwise it's silly and forgettable for anyone other than kids who are already fans of the books.
