Meh.
Guest House is just 90 minutes of crude and/or absurd attempts at jokes with roughly 10% of them landing in any way. This was pretty bad, but not quite as bad as I expected. Pauly Shore still has a certain charisma to him, even though it has been minimized by years of hard living. The premise itself wouldn't be that bad with better writing and a better cast but alas this is just an occasionally kind of funny bro comedy that will be lost in the annals of history.

As I stare into the abyss of this film, wishing for sweet release in any form, I witness the horror of Pauly Shore doing lines of coke, rubbing his brittle beard hairs against naked breasts, as he glares deeply into the camera, his eyes bloodshot and bereft of life. I beg for Billy Zane to appear in that single room he shoots every movie he's acted in for the last ten years. I will take any Faustian bargain to end this torment.
Instead, Mr. Weasel shits his pants, gets a boner and then vomits on himself.
And Chris Kattan shows up, looking about 87 years old.

The main problem with Guest House is the lack of likable characters. Everyone is mean spirited for most of the film. Even Pauly Shore. I like Pauly when he plays a nice guy / silly stoner. The film does take a kinder tone towards the end, but by then, it is too little too late.
I did laugh a few times. There is a fair amount of nudity and drug use, so not all is awful. Billy Zane looks intense in a sorta funny supporting role, and I believe Steve-O is even more insane when he is off drugs.
As for the plot, do you really care? I did notice some holes they forgot to cover. Guest House isn’t unwatchable, but I am quickly going to forget most of it.
Consisting mainly of forced jokes and characters about whom not a single personal in the audience will care, "Guest House" is a mostly unfunny comedy about a couple dealing with an annoying squatter. Played by Pauly Shore, that squatter spends the film heaping insult and injury onto the homeowning couple whose property on which he lives rent-free. The story is more a string-of-gags than an actual narrative, but the production throws them all up with an energy that nearly creates interest. That energy and some climactic sweetness, however, can not make the comedy a tolerable experience.
This film had some fun moments I guess, but for the most part it just sucked a lot.

Troy Duffy is back! And by the big door : as a screenwriter for a douche comedy starring Pauly Shore.
This is directed by a below average director, it barely fonctions as a movie : badly staged jokes, overacted as if it’s funnier, annoying characters. It wants to be What About Bob? or Neighbors but it fails as a movie, as a comedy and as a story. It’s just sequence after sequence of unfunny scenes with a thin storyline and most of the characters pops out of nowhere we don’t even know who they are and why they’ve not funny.
It makes perfect sense that Troy Duffy’s feature follow up to his Boondock Saints movies would be a Pauly Shore flick (he acts as a writer and executive producer here).
That’s not a total complaint. I love Boondock and I can recall chuckling along with Shore films as a kid.
Unfortunately, too much of this movie doesn’t focus on Shore (who is actually kinda pitch perfect here). Every time we focus on the couple at the center of the story, the movie just loses confidence and goes way too generic or dives into physical comedy that falls flat. It tries to go a bit emotional at the end, but it comes out of nowhere, despite Shore actually playing the drama…
This may legitimately be the absolute worst film I have ever, regrettably, watched in entirety. Half of a star is too high of a rating for it.

A ROTTEN fucking movie that tries to convince you that Pauly's character is cool when he's a fucking NARC, the least cool thing you can be, he calls the cops multiple times and it's presented as a good thing! A disgrace to Pauly's legacy. Directed by Sam Macaroni... hell someone boil this guy in a pot of water hahah.
Watched this with Houseguest because it's the same words but they are flipped. It's as simple as that.
As someone who watched almost all of Pauly Shore's movies I feel you can nail down his appeal in the 90s. He was slow-witted stoner who could be impulsive and short-sighted but over time reveals a heart of a slightly less valuable substance than gold. In this movie he's an irredeemable narc piece of shit until the last 5 minutes of the film he realizes the couple he is terrorizing is having a baby and he turns the guest house into a nursery* and disappears.
