“there’s no before. there’s only from now on”
the plot and characterizations could he stronger, but otherwise this proved to hold it’s own in an era already too full of post-apocalyptic stories. understated and so beautifully shot: every lens flare here is a wonder. it might not be bold enough for some, but i feel like this deserves more love
i wish reed morano’s cinematography was used on a better story. the way she plays with light is stunning.
It’s one of the oldest writing prompts in the world: “The last man on Earth froze as he heard a knock at the door.” Alas, the tantalizing potential of that premise has seldom been realized by the stories that it’s hatched, and Reed Morano’s admirably bold but aggravatingly banal “I Think We’re Alone Now” is almost enough to make you wish that people would stop trying altogether.
In this case, the man is an upstate New York librarian named Del (Peter Dinklage) — no longer a little person now that he’s the only person — and the knock on the door isn’t a knock at all, but rather a sudden plume of fireworks across the Hudson River. Del doesn’t seem particularly excited to learn that someone else might be out there after all, and neither are we, as the film’s wordless opening passages are a masterclass in table-setting.
hate to think that when i’m the last man on earth elle fanning is outside making it clap
(this movie is very beautiful and very wonderful, need to see it again to take it all in)
Every morning, I wake up and feel a darkness wash over me. It is not the sort of darkness that one sees when they betray someone they love, but rather, when they betray themselves.
I sat up and stretched myself out, keeping my eyes on the closet at all times as I set my feet on the floor. I wondered where it was waiting for me today - behind that door, beneath my bed, or maybe even within the walls.
A frightening image appeared behind my eyes like a bolt of lightning, but I reminded myself that there was more to fear on the inside than the out, and it gave me courage. Besides, there was no sign of it.…
"You had no one, I had everyone" - Grace
Imagine hating people so much that you are the last man on earth and you get bummed out when you meet Elle Fanning.
In I Think We're Alone Now Fanning and Peter Dinklage navigate a relatively comfortable post-apocalyptic life but struggle with their own particular psychological issues, and then some more stuff happens. The film is well directed and shot, with great use of light. The premise itself is really fun, it's just a shame that the movie doesn't quite live up to the premise's potential. The "twist" in the film ends up making the film more of a statement about societal alienation that just doesn't quite hit. The main culprit…

FINALLY A ROLE FOR PETER DINKLAGE THAT DOESN’T REVOLVE AROUND HIS HEIGHT!!!
7/10
Elle Fanning can crash my post-apocalypse last person on earth party anytime.
Kind of a strange film really. It doesn't feel like a science fiction or apocalypse movie at all. It's so much more casual and quiet than that. I can't really identify the tone, but it's not inconsistent and I genuinely liked it. There were funny and charmingly awkward moments, but also boring, sad, and profound scenes. I'm not sure exactly why, but it felt right.
And damn, Reed Moreno is a great director, but she's a genius DP. The cinematography and lighting in this film are breathtaking. It was almost too beautiful for the film at times.
What do you miss most?!
...quiet.
What?!
Nothing!
I know I'm probably overrating this, but seeing Peter Dinklage play another misanthrope who drinks and knows things was just what this betrayed Game of Thrones fan needed, 12 months removed from that trash fire of a final season.
This quiet take on the post-apocalyse is both thoughtful and heart-warming. And despite the age difference between Dinklage and Elle Fanning, I really felt the connection between their characters. A fine way to spend 90 minutes of quarantine time. Recommended.
I Think We’re Alone Now is one of those rare apocalyptic movies that gets it right (for the most part), first off Peter Dinklage is actually taken seriously for once. I’ve always found Dinklage to be a very underrated actor and it always frustrated me that almost every single role he’s in there’s some sort of joke about his height, however this movie doesn’t do that at all which is extremely refreshing to see. He did a fantastic job in his role and really shows that he can be one hell of a actor when taken very seriously, Elle Fanning also does a fantastic job and the chemistry between Dinklage and Fanning is some really great stuff here, the two…
é um bom drama pós apocalíptico com personagens com reações (ou com a falta delas) bem plausíveis pra trama e que foge de alguns dos clichês dos filmes do gênero tão habituais. só o desfecho que é um pouco forçado.
A convoluted screenplay is the responsible for erradicating a lot of humanity of what this promising essay on loneliness has to tell. The gorgeously lit shots and overall on-point performances are the last hopes that find themselves at a disadvantage. Kinda was hoping for that 80's identical title to play at the end.
