A real triumph of editing, photography (the use of lighting and color are particularly masterful), sound design, and good old-fashioned economical storytelling. A modern spaghetti western that stretches the genre-defining climactic mexican standoff into a feature-length war of attrition. Creatively structured, brimming with style and energy. Who needs substance?
Yeah, that's a lot of style.
I get that this is trying to tie together arthouse and grindhouse, but it does it on the back of a truly uninteresting and kind of generic filmbro/Tarantino narrative. Not for me.
Cattet and Forzani, bless them, know how to get at the druggy and obsessive quality of film images. They could doubtlessly craft some stunning art installations. However, seductive as this is, I'm not sure if they're yet able to make a satisfying overall film.
As in Amer (I've yet to see Strange Color) they distill genre visuals into a highly potent psychedelic, here using Spaghetti Westerns ; colossal Leone style close-ups, crinkling leather, glinting gold, and dynamically cut shoot-outs hit…
A stylish homage to the Italian genre cinema of the early 1970s.

Style over substance to the MAX
Hyper stylized and relentless for the entire run time. My favorite shot was the close mid shot going to black while still seeing the reflection in her eye and then when it lit up again it was an extreme close up. All kinds of cool editing tricks like that in this movie. The time stamps do get tedious at one point and while I’m sure it was for comedic effect it was more grating than anything. Really really cool and…
Bastante friki a la par que guasona y con momentos de aesteticbois.
Diversión para todos los públicos excepto la mayor parte de los públicos quizás
I think I like leather now
A - Arcs of sunlight baking hole-shaped chests with punctures at their hearts.
H - Heathenist dozens on dozens to cool one desert. No carvishing.
H - Hearth unspeak malignant solar bombs seethering behind those untapered breaths.
H - Here’s the bandits. Their masks placed loft.
Peculiar thriller con elementos de Spaghetti Western pasados por el filtro de lo lisérgico. Por momentos deslumbrante por su montaje y juego cromático pero por otro lado la propuesta acaba ahogándose por sí sola.
