Seymour Krelborn is a nerdy orphan working at Mushnik's, a flower shop in urban Skid Row. He harbors a crush on fellow co-worker Audrey Fulquard, and is berated by Mr. Mushnik daily. One day as Seymour is seeking a new mysterious plant, he finds a very mysterious unidentified plant which he calls Audrey II. The plant seems to have a craving for blood and soon begins to sing for his supper.

as much as i loved audrey and seymour, audrey II is a real musical legend and the definition of a problematic fave
I've always championed this as the one movie adaptation of a musical that actually improved upon the original stage version, but after rewatching it for the first time in forever, I'm not so sure that's true. I think I was just taken in by the best puppet effects ever put to film and the insanely incredible "Mean Green Mother from Outer Space" song to notice how many songs that contribute crucial story and character beats were cut. It's not like the original musical is particularly long; I see no reason to cut as much as they did outside of maybe budgetary restrictions.

I've got nothing constructive for this, it's a delightful pop confection with truly astonishing animatronic work. Never gets old.
