Sometimes you don't what you are doing, you are closeted in saying things you want, afraid in expressing some feelings you have. Leila wanders through the streets, in love with her friend Sarah, she meets an old man in the need of a company but the night ends in a chaotic way leaving Leila in a hospital.
As she becomes fragile, she admits herself to a psychiatric clinic where she meets Ann and Frenja. Frenja's life is for pleasing everyone she knows. She takes care of her daughter and husband. She even consoles her sister on her break up and throws her a birthday party, as you will see Frenja is surrounded with selfish people who don't really acknowledge her.…
Three shorts connected with queer theme and sloppy half-baked script. Progress and character work feels way too random, small bits are fine but they feel disconnected and further it goes, the more confused it seems. Is it about trauma or suppressed sexuality? Coming of age? Or something else? Also doesn’t help that it’s just crossing off items from list of bad queer tropes. The really bad ones.
I’d call it an ok TV movie. Leila was pretty watchable though.
Light spoiler
Considering the situation how it happens and the rest of the film that basically ignores it, the rape feels like extremely cheap plot device and bad cliché.
LOOPING unfortunately completely slipped under the radar last year, and i hope it will eventually find an audience as it is truly an astonishing debut.
the three main characters felt so real, so believable. this might sound cliché, but i forgot i was watching a movie a few times. these three actresses (jella haase, lana cooper and marie-lou sellem) delivered out of this world performances and it's such a shame they went so unnoticed.
leila, ann and frenja share a unique and complex relationship, that is absolutely captivating to watch unfold. what i also immediately noticed is that, although they are naked quite a lot through the film, they are only sexualized when they wish to be sexual. that is…
TW: this film contains scenes of sexual assault and demonstration of an eatin disorder (induced vomitting) I know this could be very triggering for some so..
I'd never heard about this film and only watched it because the poster looks awesome. The whole movie is visually wonderful. And I loved the characters to bits.
This is the story of a young lesbian girl who sympathises with an older man one evening who eventually rapes her. She ends up in a mental hospital where she makes friend with two other women. There is a strong sense of sisterhood -perhaps I shouldn't use this term when they have sex together but I'm at loss for a better word-.

Fragmentado em excesso, privando ao espectador a oportunidade de conhecer melhor Ann e Frenja.

Wonderwomen - until tragedy conquers all in the last 10 minutes...what about a happier ending once in a while (more than a few moments long)?!
