Taylor Swift has always sought after our approval. That much is made clear in Miss Americana, a fascinating portrait of one of pop culture's most compelling and, yes, controversial figures.
Full disclosure: I am die hard Swiftie. But even I was a bit nervous, even skeptical before watching this doc; would it skirt the more controversial aspects of Taylor's career? Would it be too morally simplistic in its worldview? Well. Yes and no.
It's obvious that Taylor herself played a heavy hand in the making of this documentary; she is our protagonist and we are meant to empathize with her. But it's the way the documentary goes…
