Despite the poor lighting in some scenes and sometimes questionable sound mixing... I honestly adored Moments of Clarity for being an unapologetic movie in dealing with being unapologetically true to your self.
Lyndsy Fonseca is a genuine treasure, lightning in a bottle. Holy shit. I've been a fan of her work for years, as I've always admired the fact that she consistently chooses to back up small-scaled projects (RePlay is a masterful short-com miniseries, and Nikita is a criminally underrated show of this decade).
That being said, mind's eye got opened with her presence and performance here. I will move heaven and earth, as I believe I have found the earnest and perfect actress to portray the female protagonist of my novels... if and when it'll ever come to that.
The Great Unknown Challenge film 21
Really not sure how I feel about this one in the end. There were some great moments and then there were moments where I was so completely bored or annoyed with the story. Like, I really wanted to like Claire and Danielle, but there were moments where they felt just so poorly written. Also, the way they dealt with agoraphobia was super underwhelming.
But there were some really great moments. Like, I can't remember the exact quote. but I did like the idea of treating of spirituality like a breakfast buffet, and you only eat what you're craving, because there's a reason you're craving it. I thought that was a cool idea. But then also there were a bunch of, at best, typical indie twee scenes that I had to trod through to get to that.
TIL this might be Eric Roberts' first good movie. intheseats.ca/real-awkward-review-moments-clarity/

An road trip drama/comedy about two unlikely friends finding solice in each others company of weirdness. Was an oddly entertaining romp.
I forgot to give you my muffin, I made it nice and moist for you! I even put the neighbor's zucchini in it!
That quote was the highlight of this movie in my opinion.
While the film's themes never really come together in a cohesive manner, the focus on female friendship is appreciated. Ultimately, this is a film where the talent involved is likely a bit better than the actual material on the page
