A descubierto, За огорожею, Поза дротом
Have you ever watched “Training Day” and wondered how cool it would be if, 15 minutes into the movie, Denzel Washington took off his shirt to reveal that he was actually a semi-translucent android super-soldier with the strength of a Terminator and the emotional range of a B-team Avenger? Of course you have — you’re only human. But screenwriters Rowan Athale and Rob Yescombe took it upon themselves to actually make that dream a reality, and the result of their efforts is a high-concept slab of “Netflix movie of the week” sci-fi that wrestles with some big questions about the future of modern warfare via a conceit that borders dangerously close to “Chappie.”
It’s rare to see something that dares…
Netflix’s latest mindless action extravaganza, Outside the Wire, is a so-called anti-war movie that leaves way to much to be desired. For fans of the genre it’s just another generic sci-fi action flick, though admittedly it’s made surprisingly enjoyable by its action set-pieces and chemistry between actors Anthony Mackie and Damson Idris who both shine throughout. However, things never progress beyond formulaic and whilst Anthony Mackie and Damson Idris do a great job, by the final third act things become too convoluted and, when mixed with a rather dreadful script, the film ultimately fails to deliver on its somewhat interesting premise.
2021 Releases Ranked
The fact that one of the characters is a robot man has pretty much nothing to do with anything else in this. Also it's miserably serious and boring.
A predictable mess that lacks originality, suspense, emotional stakes and anything that could add entertainment value.
Starring actors that were hired to only do one faces.
Probably written by someone who accidentally sent the first draft.
This gets a little more interesting in the second half, but man the first hour of this, like so many of these Netflix wannabe blockbusters, is just boring. (See also: Bright, Project Power, Extraction.) They’re all so dour and gritty and self-important. Don’t people want popcorn movies to be ... fun?

Netflix is back, but is this another reason for many (still) look down on their original action releases? To say Outside the Wire is generic feels like too obvious of a criticism, but that is the clear problem here. When your script is this flawed and predictable, there isn’t much that one compelling character or a few fun action scenes can do to salvage the experience. Granted, the film has both of these things, but they are not enough to help to overall experience come together. In the near future, a drone pilot sent into a war zone finds himself paired with a top-secret android officer on a mission to stop…
Netflix gives us three of these pointless action movies a year. I don't ever see anyone asking for them. Oh, look! Someone from the MCU! The budget is far too high to be justifiable! Are you interested yet?!
But I'm sure it will "trend" for a week, so good on them. I guess.
A damn good action movie with a ‘90s Buddy Cop vibe, Outside the Wire features great chemistry between Anthony Mackie and Damson Idris. The showstopper is Idris, as his performance commands the screen.
The screenplay could’ve been better, but there’s a lot of action to make up for it.
Outside the Wire is definitely a watchable and entertaining action movie.

This was an underwhelming want-to-be Terminator with some fun action scenes and on the surface, a lot of thought-provoking themes, like the role of drones and robots in warfare and the human impact of war, but it never went beyond the surface level. I will give it credit for trying.
Dumb. Really dumb. Clever turns here and there. But dumb.
Could've been so much more.
Another 'date night - movie night' at home... Really liked it, but Jean felt it was a little 'far-fetched'. It does kinda push the boundaries of believability even in the super hero genre. But was the believability lacked the story-telling performances more than made up for.
That's some Call Of Duty shit right there
Honestly, pretty cool ideas of modern warfare, badass robots doing the fighting, frisbee grenades etc. But ultimately this came across pretty cheesy for the most part. I'm not expecting a film like this to be super realistic but seeing a guy leap through one window of a car and through the window on the other side just came across as ridiculous. The story for the most part was interesting but I feel like it lacked quite a bit, there wasn't enough to keep it interesting.
it was a satisfying sci fi concept that was executed pretty well. it's better than captain falcon and the winter soldier so far so ig if you're into that you can give this a watch for something that is not boring.
an ostensibly antiwar movie that in the end decides the US is justified in doing endless proxy wars???
