I don't have many rules, but there is one in particular that I have:
Diane Keaton can do no wrong.
POMS is an entertaining romp that brings women of a certain age together (Diane Keaton, Jacki Weaver. Pam Grier, Rhea Perlman, and others). By the end of the film, you'll probably be wishing that at least half of these women were your grandmothers.
It brings nothing new to the table. However, it's a pleasant way to spend an hour and a half. Recommended if you even remotely like any of the women involved in the project.

Growing older is complicated.
Even some of the positive reviews of this film are condescending. People saying "awe if it makes the elderly happy that's a good thing" or "It's not my thing but I'm sure it will work for the intended audience." Old people aren't children, despite their inability to be quiet in theaters, they are more experienced people than myself or most of you and they have lived stressful lives during times that were much shittier than ours.
- The reason most of films for the elderly are happy is that most elderly people have gone through enough grief in their lives that…
Anyone expecting a senior-charged version of Bring It On will walk away from Poms disgruntled, because isn’t about mind-blowing athleticism or choreography, it’s about giving life a second chance before deciding to give up entirely, and learning that the risk involved with taking that chance is much less than the regret of not acting on it at all.
Regardless of Shane Atkinson’s thinly written script and Hayes’ occasionally clumsy direction, there’s nothing more smile-inducing than watching a troupe of golden oldies relive their teenage years through the joys of dance. Yes, it’s predictable, and yes, the jokes don’t always work, but its heart is in the right place, and it delivers a really poignant message about the power of friendship and believing that we all deserve happiness, even when the unfortunate events of life threaten to bring us down.
I wouldn’t really say it’s a “good movie”, but it’s sweet and innocent and mostly a fun time.
the first act is a little boring and very much a slow burner but once the story unfolded i completely fell in love with the cast and the message behind the film.
the jokes don’t always hit and there’s a few clichè moments but this film has sooooo much heart and i am completely obsessed

You were dying yesterday. You'll be dying next week. In the meantime, you should dance your ass off.
I want to live in a retirement community so bad, just let me in.
"Poms" is pretty much exactly what I expected it to be; a cute and pretty harmless time at the movies that I'll forget about in a day or so. Diane Keaton and Jacki Weaver are both really good but the supporting cast is pretty much wasted. It also could've used some more laughs and the dramatic beats just aren't explored enough to fully work. But hey it's a perfectly fine way to spend 90 minutes, and one the target audience should enjoy.
Retirement age women start a cheerleading club. You know miles away where this is all going, so just sit back and enjoy it.
Jacki Weaver completely steals the entire movie from Diane Keaton and everyone, including Pam Grier! She gets the best laugh in the entire movie.
