Tommy Gunn: You don't own me! You don't own me! Nobody does! I want my respect.
Rocky Balboa: Well come and get it!
Here it is, the Rocky movie that to most people is known rather as the skid mark of the franchise, a piece of lonely shit, the movie nobody likes or one of the worst movies of all time. Now I fully understand why most people dislike this movie, the new soundtrack, the fighter, Tony Ever's and well mainly because they wanted to take the franchise in a new direction and to be honest I liked that about this movie, it wasn't predictable or repeating the same thing (no offence at all to the other Rocky movies) Stallone…
opens with a chilling scene in which Rocky realizes he probably has irreversible brain damage. then it settles in to a nice, boring, nostalgic recapitulation of his magnanimity and righteous pride, spiced up with a borderline racist and not particularly clever Don King takeoff. perhaps the saddest and most affecting story here is that both of Rocky's sons here, real and surrogate, got into trouble and died too young in real life.
The fifth instalment in the Rocky series, Rocky V finds Rocky Balboa in retirement & poverty after he suffers a serious brain injury from his previous fight and is reluctantly made to leave boxing. Also learning that his entire wealth is lost on the stock market, Rocky returns to his Pennsylvania neighbourhood with his family and after meeting a promising boxer, takes him under his wing. Things are set in motion when his protégé betrays him.
Written by Sylvester Stallone & directed by John G. Avildsen, the film reunites the team that was responsible for Rocky and now, they're also responsible for coming up with the worst chapter in the series for Rocky V is an uninspired, tedious & dull movie from start…
I'm sad that our Rocky marathon is over.
Not as sad as Tommy's haircut like but still pretty bummed.
Bring on Shempmas and my rewatch of Rocky IV 🎄

Road to Creed 2
Step 5 of 7
Since I saw Rocky 5 for the first time today and know that the series will probably reach a proper conclusion with Rocky Balboa, the 6th entry, it's easy for me to write about it. However, I can well imagine how great the anger and disappointment of the audience must have been that Rocky 5 must have felt as the funeral of the series in 1990.
In general, the first half of the film has a touch of melancholy that I liked. You can tell that Rocky's career is coming to an end. A cameo of 83 year old Burgess Meredith as Mickey for a flashback underlines that the…
On reaching the somewhat hysterical zenith of the fourth film, the only way Sylvester Stallone could go for another round in the ring with Rocky was inward, pulling back from the exuberant, mad heights of Soviet Russia and throwing Balboa back onto the grungy streets of his native Philadelphia. Rocky V is the clearest attempt since the beginning to take the character, and the franchise, back to its roots; Stallone pitches the guy much more down on his luck, everything he fought for taken away from him, lost without purpose given his actual fighting days are behind him, and looks to recapture the same sense of edgy, streetwise underdog charm the first picture had. It's no coincidence he invited back…
Certainly unnecessary, and definitely the worst one, but as far as I'm concerned it's still pretty watchable. The main problems obviously lie with Rocky not boxing, and Tommy Gunn not being a very interesting character. Rocky always hits home on the family drama aspects, and the heart is still in here, it just doesn't shine through very often.
Ice age, Star Wars and Jurassic Park failed. But Rocky will join Middle Earth, Mission Impossible and Fast & Furious in having a good 5th film.
Somehow I had never seen this before and I admit it’s pure trash and for the whole movie I just thought about how it could be parodied, but it’s fun as fuck and the usual rocky formula is changed.
I can see why rocky purists May hate it but it was pure escapism for me!
Do I really have to comment on this one?
It's the least Rocky film of the Rocky franchise. Rambo 4 is more Rocky than Rocky V. How is that you may ask? Stallone actually fights throughout Rambo 4.
Rocky V is the only entry in the franchise that I never got around to seeing, mostly because I don't know if I've ever heard anything good about it. I honestly don't have a problem with this movie at all. Its far from insultingly bad and I may even like it a bit more than Rocky IV.
Rocky V brings back John G. Avildsen, the director of the first movie after Sylvester Stallone directed 2, 3 and 4. I'd assume Avildsen was brought back to bring the franchise back to its roots, and he does in some ways. There are some touches of nostalgia as Rocky loses all his money and goes back to Philadelphia.
This film is criticized because…
Eeeh, I kind of liked this movie, given the plot, not the best what we would expect from Sly tho.
Le rocky que j’aime le moins, always wondered why Tommy Gunn was even a personnage, au moins c’est pas le robot du IV. Y’avais un robot dans le IV.
E+
Total trash.
A waste of time.
Like, two moderately good scenes from a cast that's given up by now.
That's the best I can say.
HORRIBLE! It literally tried to recapture the first movie while also doing some weird 90’s trends that did not mix. The story is kind of stupid when you think about it. Rocky meets Tommy, he forged a bond with the a kid and just replaces his actual son without knowing and they just let it happen until shit hits the fan, Tommy just double crosses Rocky out of nowhere instead of trying to make it organic. Rocky’s kid rightfully gets pissed about it but for some reason he also stays silent about it until he turns into an edgelord alpha male and all Rocky had to do was talk him and that part of the plot got solved no problem.…

I wouldn’t call this downright bad but it’s deeply disappointing for one reason: there’s a good film in there somewhere. To be more specific, that good film is Creed and I’m glad they revisited the idea of Rocky having a “wayward apprentice” with much greater success because it’s a great idea. This doesn’t take advantage of the idea’s potential. The apprentice, Tommy Gunn, is a meathead with a shit haircut. This film’s cartoon character is George Washington Duke, a blatant Don King parody who sounds like a Hideo Kojima character and lures Tommy away from Rocky’s watchful eye. Neither of these new characters have the charm or charisma of those that came before them, which is appropriate.
There’s an attempt…
I enjoyed this one actually! Don’t know why the ratings are so bad! Lol the middle half was kinda awkward but the beginning and end had the Rocky flare from the originals.
This is the first recap that i had a hard time watching.
I never liked Paulie 😡
Wow that promoter...how unprofessional, discourteous, and annoying. I think Rocky handled it perfectly because he didnt deserve a response, and definitely not on that guy’s terms.
Lol they found a clever way to craft the story so that they could bring out all the nostalgia— especially since this was supposed to be the last in the franchise. What's nice is it doesn't feel cheesy or gimmicky.
His poor son... but Rocky did mention he wanted him to learn the ways of the streets, so i guess that’s happening...
Rocky and Adrienne have always been the cutest freaking parents and i cant even handle it!
se esse fosse o terceiro filme seria uma trilogia perfeita. primeiro antagonista que eu realmente não gostava e por isso o final foi muito muito bom
