You don’t need to be a Formula One fan or even be aware of what actually goes on in that sport to truly appreciate this film because what it depicts in its two hours runtime isn't something that's exclusive to that particular arena. This story is about how our rivals sometimes bring out the best in us by challenging our strengths & limitations. One of the finest sports dramas to come out in recent years, Rush is a high-octane & full-throttled ride that delivers the fiery goods in just the right doses with its vibrant pace, kinetic action, arresting music & excellent performances from its leads.
Based on true events, the story is an ingenious recreation of 1976 Formula One season and recounts…
This movie honestly made me appreciate Ford v Ferrari much more.
While it's got some fun sequences, those Ford v Ferrari racing scenes were definitely superior. This whole movie felt like a fever dream, it was quite intriguing but felt like it was missing something. I wanted to like it, but I didn't quite buy into the world Ron Howard created.
The characters felt very surface level as well, I wish we got more time understanding who they were and cared more about each of them.
Still, pretty fun and stylized, I see why people enjoy it.
i watched this to understand the f1 fandom on tumblr. this proved to be an enemies to friends to lovers vroum vroum au. now i understand
Here's my idea for a sequel..
Rush 2: A biographical drama centered on the rivalry between Formula 1 driver Charles Leclerc and the Ferrari strategists during the 2022 Formula 1 motor-racing season.
People always think of us as rivals but he was among the very few I liked and even fewer that I respected. He remains the only person I envied.
Once again, a brilliant, iconic and impeccable performance by the one and only: Daniel Brühl.
Rush presents a compact narrative overview of the historic rivalry between formula 1 legends Nikki Lauda and James Hunt; a true story that seems almost perfect for Hollywood adaptation.
Rush feels to primarily be a character drama, it never seems to become a kitsch period piece, nor does it lean too much on its racing scenes as a crutch. Whilst the film goes out of its way to make sure you don’t need to be a fan of the sport to enjoy it, it’s racing scenes are stunning, the cars feeling to be more camera than prop.
The two central characters clearly share a love of their sport but manage to view it from conflicting perspectives - one romantic and…
Yet another movie Hans Zimmer helped make 100 times better.
How this movie didnt get a single Oscar nomination, I will never know.
after i first ever watched this i vowed i would become a professional race car driver and now half a decade later .... i still dont have a license
"It's a lovely way to live, and the only way to drive; to live each day as if it's your last." - James Hunt
One thing that strikes you about Rush is the heat it gives off. The smouldering rubber, the ever-present cigarettes, and of course, the white-hot rivalry between its two protagonists. There's immense pleasure to be found in the sharp quipping and odd admiration between the two polar opposites; one passionate and all about speed, the other controlled and all about statistics. Howard's film succeeds in bringing Hunt and Lauda's relationship to vibrant life, and isn't afraid to shy away from the darker side of both of them.
The opening is something of beauty. A simple opening scene…
