imagine hating this one when it features some of the best traps in the entire series, could never be me! saw 5 is so much FUN
A rather rehashed plot from preceding outings, insipid characters that unfortunately take center stage here, and even some lackluster traps for the first time in this franchise's history all make Saw V the most mediocre film from this series yet with this one once again continuing the needlessly intricate material from the last entry in spades one more time this go around.
The comprehensive flashbacks that prominently involve Tobin Bell's Jigsaw and his protege that conveniently connect with the rest of this franchise, and several decent gore effects on the side between the various unimaginative traps here are indeed the only attributes holding this one up in some specific instances, though in the end, Saw V's staleness as a film almost entirely prevails and doesn't truly do too much as a whole.
ready to murder my boyfriend because he can't keep his shit straight on who is hoffman and who is strahm...
The majority of the film revolves around Detective Mark Hoffman!
Well Hello! Hoffman is no Jigsaw! Nobody... and I mean nobody gives a rats patootie about Detective Hoffman!
This film is pretty much making the same mistakes as the previous entry! Too much focus on the backstory and not enough on the present! Way too much time in sequels 4 and 5 have been dedicated to connecting all of the dots!
The writers/directors need to realize the fans aren't here for endless dialogue or flashbacks from previous films! Were here for Jigsaws diabolical methods of rehabilitation!
I dug the Edgar Allen Poe-ish instrument of death featured in the film! Still an ok film but they need to get their heads out of their derrieres!
🔪 Well, here we go, the series finally dropped below 1,5 star
🔪 It's boring cop vs boring cop. No matter who wins, the audience loses
🔪 Julie Benz deserves better than this, comparing to the rest of the cast she is practically A list
🔪 The way Cary Elwes clearly kept telling them to fuck off for years until his career was even more dead than before and he finally said yes to Saw 3D is hilarious, you just know they kept asking him to make an appearance and he kept turning them down
🔪 The way they keep tying the scenes to previous events, do they really think the audience cares about those characters?
🔪 This is so much worse than the papercut
🔪 All that ending is good for is reaction giifs

Many people do not like this installment at all and like I stated before I totally understand why. It’s one of my least favorites as well.
however—if Saw V committed a murder and was on the run from the law, I would give him a place to hide and feed em cuz in this house we support all of Saw...even the delinquent entries. sorry V...i say this with love.

i forgot to talk about the time i also met costas who plays hoffman. and omg talk about one of the coolest mf i ever met. i showed him the pic of when i dressed up for him on spirit week back in high school. i also gave him shit about gordon getting the upper hand on him, he just laughs and points at darren lynn bousman next to us saying:
“if darren comes back to direct another one, i’m definitely coming back to kick cary’s ass and if you see him tell him that bathroom won’t hold me back from giving him an ass-whoopin!” hahaha he just went on like he was one of us…
Possibly the weakest instalment of the series and definitely one of the worst sequels in existence, the 5th chapter in the Saw franchise not only discards the basic aspects of storytelling but logic as well, for anything & everything goes in this movie over the course of its runtime without making any proper sense.
Once again putting a group of strangers through a series of sadistic tests, Saw V mainly concerns the guy who's been continuing Jigsaw's work following his death and whose identity was unveiled in the previous chapter. The plot focuses on events that led him to become Jigsaw's apprentice and how he's managed to keep it a secret.

Yuck.
Can a jigsaw associate continue to evade the police? And, who will win the jigsaw obstacle course created by the psychopath team? These questions and more in Saw V, a film that reclaims and improves some of the crap in part IV. I am of the belief that this one is kind of entertaining, which apparently makes me quite the outlier. I find the weaving together of all the movies to be humorously and entertainingly bad and I love the jigsaw games in this one. I like that this film goes after corporate folk because jigsaw should take a stance on politics haha.
I liked this... what's wrong with me?
These are just slowly getting worse and worse. This one was very dull, for whatever reason they decided to make the police case a bigger part of the movie than the Jigsaw traps, which made it really hard to stay invested. Some of the acting was also so bad, but I kind of expected that. Not my favorite.
I took a sleep break between 'Saw IV' and 'Saw V' and managed to lose track of the timeline. Like, I'm pretty certain this happens after 'Saw III' but did that make 'Saw IV' happen simultaneous to 'Saw III'? I can't even switch off and enjoy the traps like I used to watch these because the traps are surrounded by the time jumping police plot and no amount of funky gore can distract my chronologial understanding cortexes.
The transitions here are getting great. A pendulum switches use between two scenes seperate in time while also being a flashback to earlier in the film. Does this film want to hold my hand through the narrative or not? Do any of these…
Still rubbish but honestly a marked improvement on IV. Quite liked the escape room stuff, couldn’t give less of a shit about the detectives.
How does Luke from Gilmore Girls figure anything out in this movie? He just stands in crime scenes doing no detective work and recovering zero evidence and suddenly knows everything going on behind the scenes of previous movies. 70% of this film is just him having psychic flashbacks about someone else. Listen, these movies make no sense and can be fun but if you're going to spend so much time on the detective plot at least have someone do some actual detective work!!!
It was kind of a lot of detective work and not very many games. I get that the series is wrapping up but damn just give me that juicy fan service. The ending wasn’t as cool, and “WOAH” worthy as the first 3, probably on par with 4. Still fun to watch, idc.
