Charlie Simms is a student at a private preparatory school who comes from a poor family. To earn the money for his flight home to Gresham, Oregon for Christmas, Charlie takes a job over Thanksgiving looking after retired U.S. Army officer Lieutenant Colonel Frank Slade, a cantankerous middle-aged man who lives with his niece and her family.

I miss the days when Oscar-bait movies were just heartfelt crowd-pleasers with a touching message, rather than soulless reflections of the current state of Hollywood’s self-righteous filth
Never mind how a grown man who’s been blind for years needs a babysitter for one weekend. Forget about how the school invites the entire student body to attend the meeting at the end. Don’t be discouraged by the unnecessarily long running time. No. None of that matters because we get Al Pacino screaming at everybody and it is fucking incredible.
