Ditch Brodie might just be an even dumber name than Topper Harley, and that was from fucking Hot Shots.
He does however have one of the wildest character introductions ever. Here's the best clip I could find. youtu.be/toHtG65cJKA
It's not a great scrip, it's not acted beautifuly. It's a ridiculous action film and it works? Maybe. It has just the right amount of ridiculousness to work well. A film with Charlie Sheen as a skydiving instructor trying to stop the russian mafia from stealing gold? It has to be fun, and it is.
Unfortunately, the times it is not a bonkers film, the bad dialogues may ruin rest of the film. I only saw it because of Nastassja Kinski, and she's one of the best parts of the film. Although, seeing Charlie Sheen as Ditch Brodie is hilarious at times, I'm not sure if he's trying to be dramatic or trying to be comical like in films such as "Hot Shots!".
Charlie Sheen has never been able to live up to his father's legacy as an actor. Look through his filmography and you won't find an "Apocalypse Now" or anything approaching greatness like his father's cv. You will though find a lot of action dross, just like this one.
"Terminal Velocity" has elements of various successful movies of the time. Obvious nods towards "Point Break" cannot be ignored, but Sheen is no Patrick Swayze. Another ludicrous plot involving the K.G.B. and the apparent death of a female skydiver, this also sees Sheen hampered with the moniker of "Ditch Brodie". Silly name, silly film. There are however some decent action sequences among the bullshit and with James Gandolfini doing his best as…
Kurzweilig, spassig.
This isn't very good, mainly because it tries to fill in the gaps between some genuinely good action scenes with plot. Why the fuck would we want more plot in a film where Charlie Sheen plays a skydiving instructor called Ditch and Nastassja Kinski plays an ex-KGB agent called Krista Moldova?
I'd like to think David Twohy, who I normally have a lot of time for, when he wrote this and was trying to think of a name for her just decided to stick his finger on the atlas pages for Russia and its former republics to come up with one. Krista Kazakhstan would have had a nice ring to it.
Anyway, yeah, it…
Man, the bluray menu for Terminal Velocity is a total con job. It makes the film look absolutely fantastic, with all the best moments of the film being highlighted. Unfortunately, the best moments of the film are few and far between, and the majority of this film is a bit dull. Charlie Sheen isn't great in a lead action role, and even James Gandolfini looking a lot like Jon Favreau didn't do anything for me. In the end, this is the best part of the film.
"I'm a flying penis" ~ Richard 'Ditch' Brodie
Was skydiving the big thing in the early 90's, or is it coincidence that it was quite prominent in 'Point Break' and the main event in this?
Here we have Charlie Sheen's maverick skydiver Ditch Brodie (not Bodhi) who wanders into an (odd and lifeless) action film and decides to stay...
I assume at the time audiences took Charlie Sheen seriously, but since nowadays nobody does (himself included) it's best to pretend this an extended big budget episode of one of his awful Comedy Central sitcoms I keep seeing adverts for - that way you might have some fun!
4/10.
Remember when the craziest moron on Twitter was Charlie Sheen? What innocent times those were. #Winning
I can't help thinking of this.
I know I saw this back in the '90s but I can't remember anything of it other than Charlie Sheen mistakenly parachuting into a kids 8th birthday party with his cock and his arse hanging out (arguably the least mental thing Sheen has ever done) and the fact that his character is called Ditch. I had an uncle called Ditch, so that amused me at the time. Still does, actually. Anyway, I'm classing this as a first watch.
Terminal Velocity is the cinematic equivalent of being young, dumb and full of cum. Which is quite apt really as Charlie Sheen's persona is pretty much that in a nutshell. Sheen never really found a truly…
Pretty much the definition of an okay movie but they do go "YADDA YADDA" at one point so that Seinfeld reference does put it ahead of the pack of okay movies.
God, I miss the 90s. It was peace time in the western world and they produced movies that were unashamedly ludicrous to make up for it. In the year 'Terminal Velocity' came out, other film concepts included Jack Nicholson playing a werewolf ('Wolf'), a baby besting three crooks on accident ('Baby's Day Out'), a 'Street Fighter' movie starring Jean Claude Van Damme, and Elijah Wood divorcing his parents with the help of Bruce Willis in a bunny costume ('North'). Yes indeed, it was a glorious time for stupendously stupid movies!
The 90s were also a time for when Charlie Sheen (fresh off a hot streak from the 80s) started making a slew of straight-to-video fare, most of which was forgettable…
This sort of has a similar structure as Big Trouble in Little China, where a hapless buffoon gets caught up in a wider conspiracy alongside the far more competent, actual heroes of the film but the central mystery isn't as compelling or crazy as John Carpenter's classic - save for a Wile E. Coyote style falling car sequence which is easily the best part of the film - in fact, with it's self seriousness and focus on aerial stunts, it feels more like a poorer Die Hard 2 (the score owes Michael Kamen royalities) than an engaging thriller in it's own right.
Charlie Sheen did such a good job of lampooning this style of pompous, macho action persona in the…
Very entertaining if you can knock a few points off your IQ for an hour and a half. After the scene in his office where he keeps the magazine of his golden gymnastics career at the top of his trash for others to see, I knew it was going to be something special. Actually I think even the assless chaps was the first indication that I was in for something. So dumb in parts but entertaining all the way. Nice appearances by an early Gandolfini and a blonde Christopher MacDonald. Worth a watch.

Cinema is a battleground in which you've got to pick which side you're on. Often in the same 12 month period. Sometimes there's no contest to be had in choosing your Kevin Costner ROBIN HOOD: PRINCE OF THIEVES over your Patrick Bergin ROBIN HOOD, your FRIGHT NIGHT over your VAMP, MORTAL KOMBAT over STREET FIGHTER, TRUMAN SHOW over EdTV and your BIG over your VICE VERSA.
Sometimes the battle lines aren't so clear and friends become enemies because you like ARMAGEDDON more than DEEP IMPACT, think A BUG'S LIFE isn't as good as ANTZ, TURNER & HOOCH is vastly superior to K-9 and THE WARRIORS is the classic that THE WANDERERS isn't.
There's even times when the team you choose first…
Charlie Sheen as action star hardly works... But can't wait for a parody film called Turbulent Ricochet starring Steven Estoban. Has its own moments a throw away from the 90's with cheesy elements to remember it by..

Super entretenida, con batalla final, entre Charlie Sheen y James Gandolfini ( Antes de Los Soprano) tenía más pelo.
Y sale Nastassja Kinski, que eso siempre suma varios puntos.
Not bad at all this. Sheen has that charisma that carrys him throughout, Gandolfini is great as expected as the main heel and the last 15 minutes or so are honestly some superb action
