So Guy Ritchie returns to a formula that made his name over 20 years ago and it still works. Gangsters shenanigans abound with twisty turny, double crosses, double double crosses and a narrative that keeps trying to trick you. Matt does his thing, Hunnam can’t pick an accent and Hugh is playing something different but didn’t quite work for me but Farrell steals the show.
I enjoyed it for what it was but it didn’t engross me in a way I had hoped for. I can’t fault the direction and most of the dialogue worked for me. However the problem was I just didn’t care, maybe that’s on me, therefore the intrigue of the whos and whys was, at times, amusing but ultimately unrewarding.
Also is it just me that wanted Hunnam to unleash hell in a certain scene?
