It's rare to see such a raunchy comedy come out of Taiwan. I loved all the jokes, and it was so consistently funny until the sudden change of tone. While It was a bit of a jarring shift, it didn't disrupt the slow narrative too much, and was still enjoyable to watch.
My have missed some of the deeper aspects of the film (some of the satire and political comments definitely went over my head) since I didn't get that much sleep today, but it was still a great time. I loved the choice to use black/white or color in certain scenes, and the wide landscape shots of Taiwan were gorgeous. Makes me want to go back again!
I'll admit that I wasn't the hugest fan of the narration, but sometimes the director does break the fourth wall in a really funny way. I just don't think he needed to insert himself in as often as he did.
