A ravishing and sultry vampire film by Tony Scott, The Hunger is unlike anything I've seen.
Absolutely gorgeous with some great performances, Scott's style is all over this thing. Much like Mann's Thief, The Hunger basically telegraphs his entire career going forward. An assured and arresting debut like few others. Add this to my growing list of STYLE AS SUBSTANCE cinema.
Bowie is expectedly sublime, it's just a shame he wasn't a leading man more often in his acting career. His roles were always interesting, I just wish there were more of them. A damn good actor who easily could've been just as well known for film as for music, had he just done a few more. His supporting performance here is perfect for his persona.
Oh and that ending? That's some next level imagery.
A wild ride that I can't wait to take again.
