I really liked this movie as a kid. Thought it was clever.
Rewatching it now it's still relatively clever if a bit obvious.
It's basically a story of two people trying to escape the harsh punishment of a jelly emperor. One of those two people just happen to be a wizard/magician who has particular set of skills (heh) to make their dream come true.
It works. It's engaging. The entire second half feels like it leads up to a twist, though.
The writing is decent. Not bad or all that great. Edward Norton has an odd accent.
The editing is weird.
