Karloff?.... Sidekick?... FUCK YOU!!
I know the Lugosi/Karloff hatred was fictional for the Ed Wood movie, but seeing how the studio constantly put Lugosi on the side and threw Karloff's name up in lights all the time is pretty sad.
Lugosi is a phenomenal talent and even when he's not the main character he carries most of the presence in any film he stars in. I just wish Universal had shared Karloff and Lugosi properly, taking it in turns playing the main roles.
Lugosi's tale is a sad one.
But hey, The Invisible Ray is AMAZING!! I love how you aren't sure what route it's going to take at first. Big fuck off castles and the Carpathian mountains indicated a Gothic Dracula type tale. Who what's this!?... A door bell with a great big light above it!! On a castle door??... It's a fucking sci fi!!!
Brilliantly goofy, it's impossible not to have fun with this.
