Between Earth and Sky, Welcome to the Blumhouse, 天地之间
I petsit for the director so I'm gonna rate Veena's doggos.
Hipster - 13/10 hungry boy
Rambo - 14/10 loyal boy
Chewie - 12/10 cute boy
And an honourable mention to Luca the chill cat.
The film is ok.
I love female directors specially when it comes to horror they've got a nag for it they know how to go completely berserk and they respect the genre and the audience but veena sud you are probably my least favorite of all time, also idk why this script was even passed there is literally nothing amazing or twisted in it were these people high or were they forced on gun point.
Now as far as this movie goes one can predict what would happen in the end and route it will take in just 15 mins, performances wise I hate Joey king specially because of those kissing booth movies, and why the fuck was peter sarsgaard here were you too…

The Lie is exactly what the title says it will be. It is lying about being a Horror film, and it is lying about *insert spoiler here.* The film is meant to be a thrilling and interesting story about a father who is willing to do or say anything to protect his daughter. The mother starts out a little on edge, but she gets caught up in everything as well; that’s when it become a family-centric Drama based on this one lie. The full premise deals with a father and daughter who are on their way to dance camp when they spot the girl's best friend on the side of the road.…
"I'm a terrible person" -Joey King,
This movie is horrible. Joey King really is the queen of shit. Good for her though cash those checks while you can.
The Lie is a film with a familiar premise and very dumb characters doing very dumb things. Their motivations make no sense which results in a frustrating watch, and the twist just makes everything worse. The performances can’t save it.
Review by Kate Erbland
It’s remarkable what packaging can do for a film. In 2018, filmmaker Veena Sud’s second feature film bowed at the Toronto International Film Festival in the starry Galas section — other Galas that year included “First Man,” “A Star Is Born,” and “Widows” — where its heavy subject matter and high-profile placement seemed to earmark the drama as a contender to watch. First filmed under the title “Between the Earth and Sky” and based on a chilling German drama called “We Monsters,” the film promised to explore the psychological fallout of a horrible crime and the corrosive power it inflicts on a crumbling family. Sud had also locked in an exciting cast, including Joey King (pre-Emmy…
If I didn't want to throw Joey King off of a cliff because of Wish Upon, Slender Man and the Kissing Booth Saga... this will definitely do it for me!
A pretty decent premise that turns into a laughable waste of time. Big yikes from me!
The Lie is decently shot with fine acting and a good premise. A good premise that the film completely wastes. The Lie is woefully dull and is consistently full of moments where you are questioning the character's decision making. It is absurdly unbelievable and ridiculously stupid. There comes a point in the story when there is a sense of dramatic irony that would be commonplace in a Coen film. However, with The Lie it is used with a complete lack of logic, sense, rhyme or reason. It is genuinely mindboggling. It is definitely down there, but I will say that it is far from the worst ending of the year.
It is clear Joey King has potential, so can someone…
I need everyone to stop what you’re doing right now and go watch this movie. It has to be seen to be believed. It should have been a warning sign that Veena Sud’s The Lie premiered at TIFF in 2018, clearly looking for a prestige season push with name actors like Peter Sarsgaard, Joey King, and Mireille Enos, and yet for some reason Blumhouse sat on it for two years. They then decided to dump it with their Welcome to the Blumhouse anthology series on Amazon Prime, tricking people into watching this explicitly not horror film that is really just an overwrought drama with a litany of howlingly terrible performances.
This is the new pristine example of a movie whose…
A cautionary tale about the dangers of enabling your white-privileged daughter.
Joey King truly excels when she’s playing a chaotic teenager.
Very surprising ending; helps show a side of society/people. Movie was slow though and eventually seemed to turn into an unrealistic ending.
Entertaining! I expected it to be MORE twisty like in a Wild Things kind of way . A Quiet movie! Basically no Score at all , which made some scenes so dark . So dreadful hard to watch ! Sad movie doesn’t make ya feel good one bit . Kinda felt like i was watching a Lifetime original movie or the ID channel but without the silly acting or re-enactments . Could’ve used some levity
