March Across the World 2024
Film#8 - Afghanistan
I just can't fathom the life that these women endure ... in the past, and even now. Inside I was just screaming LEAVE LEAVE LEAVE! But, with no money, education, or family support, and a parental responsibility, I see how impossible that is, and it makes me weep.
I absolutely love Golshifteh Farahani in the few films I've seen her in. From the lovely Black and White creator in Jarmusch's Paterson, to Farhadi's tragic About Elly, she has such a special quality. When writing this, it just hit me, this is who the wonderful Lilly Gladstone reminds me of. Calm, yet soul piercing.
Hopefully films like this can affect change. Alas, I fear it's just a sign of more things to come.
