  Fuck you for simplifying a morally complex and nuanced war between combatants that had parents and children and loved ones into a simplistic “good vs. evil” wankfest.

  Es war einmal ein kleiner Emmerich, der wollte Filme drehen. Jedoch keine Filme Made in Germany, also keine Pippi-Kacka-Komödien späterer Dekaden, keine „Tatorte“, auch sonst keine Krimis mit den Schauspielern A bis C. Er war ebenso weit davon entfernt, Filme über das dritte Reich, über den 2. Weltkrieg, noch Filme über die DDR, damit inbegriffen, selbstverständlich, die Stasi und ihren russischen Genossen zu verwirklichen. Nein, und NEIN großgeschrieben, klein Emmerich wollte Hollywoodfilme drehen, genau die Sorte von Hollywoodfilmen, wie er sie vor der Flimmerkiste zu Hauf bekam.

  Roland Emmerich has a habit of either destroying the world or rewriting history in his films. The planet may be safe this time around, but American history gets a very bloody retelling courtesy of a certain Mr Mel Gibson.
