A documentary about the release of The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring
"The danger with any movie that does as well as this one does is that the amount of money it's making and the number of awards that it's got becomes almost more important than the movie itself in people's minds. I look at that as, in a sense, being very much like the Ring in its affect on people. You can kinda forget what we were doing if you get too wrapped up in that."
- Viggo Mortensen
Upon its release, The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring gave way to one of the best Fantasy action epics to ever be released; its impact still resonates years after its initial release. With this documentary the filmmakers examine the release of director Peter Jackson's first film in this trilogy and its reception with the public. This may be among the shortest of the making ofs, but it focuses on the release of the first film, therefore it is quite straightforward and for what it accomplishes, although brief, I found The Road Goes Ever On... Is a solid enough short to watch, especially if you've seen the other documentaries chronicling the making of The Fellowship of the Ring.
Literally the entire city of Wellington showed up for the premiere of Fellowship. It cannot be overstated just how big this feels for New Zealand.
