I enjoy being a critical consumer of media, particularly film, looking at a movie from various thematic standpoints and analyzing how effective it is in its storytelling and messaging capabilities. But it's also very easy to get caught up in this more academic way of thinking and undervalue any work that isn't radically profound. Coming off of a very frustrating night, watching The Simpsons Movie made me feel so, so good. I already love all these characters from the series, and getting to spend these near 90 minutes with them was something I really needed. The one, singular purpose of film may be controversial to define, but I don't think there's any denying that a movie that lifts your spirits…

Thanks to Disney+, I got about 18-19 seasons of binging the Simpsons before I completely got bored of it. The first 10 or so seasons were absolutely amazing, pretty much the best TV show that kept me craving for more. But then they start getting to shit like Homer being raped by a Panda and some dumb shit like that. By Season 18, I was like “Alright man, I’m done. I’ma watch this fucking movie and cancel my Disney+ subscription cuz I’ve seen everything else that’s worth my time.” Not even Wandavision catches my interest, man.
