did the producers legit make this film just 2 see how many white twinks they can force into a film
Is it better than Mad Max: Fury Road?
No. Crazier? Perhaps.
What's it about?
This.
Woah, what the fuck...
Yeah.
Wait, this sounds familiar. Is this a remake of the remake of an adaptation of a novel based on the experiment?
No, it's not a remake of the remake of an adaptation of a novel based on the experiment. It's an adaptation of the book about the experiment.
How's the cast?
Fucking excellent. One of the best ensemble casts of the year. Michael Angarano (the kid from Sky High) turns in an electric performance as the lead "guard." His "John Wayne" character is one you won't be forgetting any time soon. My favorite supporting performance of…
Always shocks me that Zombardo has a PhD after seeing this. Top 10 ways not to conduct an experiment. Great film though.
Alvarez did a really good job in making the movie as claustrophobic and uncomfortable as possible by not shying away from showing the provocative nature of the experiment and its emotional and psychological stakes.
Heavy handed & moralizing trash. Just a marvel movie for people who base their personalities around the vinyls they cop from urban outfitters. One and a half stars awarded only to the hairstyles
A very intense, almost surgical look at the disturbing experiences of the subjects of the test (using dialogue lifted verbatim from the real life experiment). With a very solid cast giving uncomfortably real performances and direction I would describe as immediate and emotionally intense but ultimately indifferent to all the characters involved.
What keeps it from being better in my eyes is that it poses a lot of psychological questions but the film itself doesn't draw any conclusions from them by the end. Could be a creative choice by making us draw our own conclusions about the experiment, but I still felt a certain quality was missing by the credits.
However it's still a very gripping experience I recommend.
hello? yes please someone come and give a back massage to Ezra Miller, Michael Angarano and Tye Sheridan for carrying the heavy weight of this movie on them shoulders
