Obviously confirms that Benedict Cumberbatch would be a perfect fit for Wes's recurring ensemble, but holy shit, can we get Dev Patel in every Wes Anderson movie from now on?
Storytelling in its purest form— joyous and inspiring, the film equivalent to a book you can’t put down.
We need more Dev Patel in our lives. So much more.
this is me publicly begging wes anderson to keep dev patel in his group of recurring actors
Rumor had it that Wes Anderson’s “The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar” — the first of the four Netflix shorts the filmmaker has made from Roald Dahl’s anthology book of the same name — would be such a radically faithful adaptation of its source material that it would ironically feel like something altogether new. On the matter of fidelity, there can be no question. Running 37 minutes long at a full sprint from the moment it starts, “Henry Sugar” recites Dahl’s text almost completely verbatim. It starts, as all movies should, with Ralph Fiennes muttering to himself in a miniature recreation of Dahl’s study (I never really…
The yogi turning the box to create the illusion of levitation, and the way that illusion still works even though you've just seen the mechanics of it, is the most concise summation of what Wes is doing with his style that I've seen.
Ralph Fiennes starting the monologue, Dev Patel being the doctor narrator, Ben Kingsley as the guy who can see without using his eyes and last but not least, Benedict Cumberbatch as Henry Sugar - this cast and their performances took this adaptation to the highest of highs it could attain and all that under the lens of one of the greatest artists of this era, Wes Anderson.
Sometimes I feel that Wes Anderson being, a cinematic auteur of our time, has the precision of a watchmaker. The way he weaves tales of internal happiness, one's curiosity and melancholy is the peak of an artist.
His vision for creating films is a testament to the eternal return of originality even when…
loved every second! incredibly charming and plays with the artifice of storytelling so well. manifesting dev patel in more wes films
