The World of Us in many ways is Eighth Grade (2018) meets Breathe (2014). It follows the sweetest, most precious little girl (Sun) who becomes quick friends with a new girl over the summer only to have that relationship spoiled by the fact that she's a social outcast at school...
The writing, performances, and execution in this movie is simply magnificent. Its magnificence is accentuated by immaculate authenticity...which is what makes the ugliness that it depicts (bullying, social cliques) that much more excruciating to endure.
This movie is a harsh reminder of how terrifying childhood can be, and how horrible children can be to each other.
